Dear Barbara,
My cousin, Dewel Lott, has published three wonderful volumes on the
Calvert
Family of North Alabama - Joseph & William Calvert and sisters who married
Wrights and Hallmarks. He had done a splendid job with these publications.
If you are interested in corresponding with him his address is:
Mr. Dewel Lott, 67 Black Road, Hartselle, Alabama. I know that he would be
interested in adding information from descendants of these people to his
file
and perhaps he can help you, too. Joseph Calvert was born ca 1782 and his
first children, one through whom I descend, was born in TN. The family
removed to the North Alabama area ca 1807-08.
I am intrigued by your Calverts. My Jane Calvert was born July 22, 1784,
possibly in either Ireland or Virginia. She married James "Jake" Hill on
February 22, 1809, in Tennessee. The came to Bibb County, Alabama about 1816.
I am trying very hard to determine which branch if any of the Calverts she
descended from. She also had a brother, William who arrived in Bibb County
about the same time. To this time, I have been unable to verify two different
versions of who their father was. One says his name was Thomas, another says
the father was Judge Robert Calvert of Tennessee. Do you have any further
thoughts?
Warmest Regards,
Alicia Deats
