Help asked for is clearly in a different realm than unwarranted conclusion
based on little fact.
Pure speculation and suspicion is not the same as an educated guess.
Proximity in space/locale and/or time and surname, does not constitute blood
relationship.
Wide sweeping statements can and do get in the way of research. Anyone who
has not experienced this is indeed fortunate. I personally know of at least
one individual, now deceased, who spent 15 years trying to trace out his
roots because of unsubstantiated statements made about his ancestry. Those
same unsubstantiated statements were a roadblock that I had to overcome to
search out my lineage. I make no apology whatsoever for my stance.
Like it or not the internet is a form of publication.
Once published, a matter is more often than not construed to be "truth".
Anyone who has been helped by another by doing internet genealogy is very
fortunate and blessed, and much good help is to be found of which I
personally am a recipient.
It is obvious that my earlier statements raised an emotional response, not
intended, however, I continue to stand by the points that were made.
Thank you all who have responded. It is interesting to see differing
viewpoints on a subject.
