Barbara, Just want to let you know the CHINN name is still popular here in
these parts. (Stafford, Prince William Co) I'm sure you could find
something on them in Va history Cindy

I checked CHINN and found many in Loudoun Co., Fauquier Co., and Fayette
Co. (KY). However, after seeing Lovis Calvert's mother was a SHINN, I
checked WV IN THE REV. and found ISAAC SHINN, b. NJ, went to VA m. Agnes
Drake. They had several chinldren in Isaac of MO. and there might be a
connection. Some of the sibs of Isaac went to IL and OH. Sisters, Agnes
Bartley and Susanna Bartley went to MO.
ISSAC SHINN enlisted in 1778 and at one time was a scout and spy. He
served under: Robertson orRobinson, Davis or Davidsons, Gregory, and
Duvall. Isaac received a pension in Harrison Co., VA but there was some
suspension. If he is connected to Pauline Shinn, you are eligible for DAR
membership.
