Terry,
I see what you mean by "iffy", but as I said I'll take as just
that..."iffy".
Thank you so much for your time and effort!
Carolyn

OK, I'm going to do this a bit at a time, starting as far back as
I
go with
the Calverts.
I know a lot of this is "iffy", and I'm sure other members of the
list will
correct what they know to be wrong. I wish they would, in fact.
George or John Calvert (I've seen it both ways) [b. c. 1525 in Eng.;
d.
5/9/1566 in Eng.] married Dorothy Leonard (this is one of the iffy
bits - and
her parentage is even iffier) [b. c. 1527 in Eng.; d. after 1611 in
Eng.].
They married c. 1545 in Eng. (probably Yorkshire). They had
(possibly) 2
children:
1. Leonard Calvert [b. c. 1550 in Yorkshire; d. c. 1612 in Ireland]
below.
2. Robert [b. c. 1553 in Yorkshire; d. ?]. I don't know anything
else about
Robert.
Leonard Calvert married Alicia Grace Crossland [b. 2/8/1557 or 1558
in
Yorkshire; d. ?; daughter of Thomas Crossland and Joanna
Hawksworth]. They
married c. 1575 in Sussex. They had 5 children:
1. George Calvert (1st Lord Baltimore) [b. c. 1578-79 in Eng.; d.
4/15/1632
in London]. He married Anne Wynne and their son, Leonard, was the
1st
Governor of Maryland.
2. John Calvert [b. c. 1580 in Yorkshire; d. c. 1617 in Ireland].
below.
3. Thomas Calvert - don't know anything about him
4. Leonard Calvert - don't know anything about him
5. Mary Calvert [b. c. 1586; d. ?; married Isaac Chapline c. 1606]
John Calvert married Grace ? c. 1610 in Ireland. I think he must
have had
another wife, since 6 of John's 8 children were born before 1610.
Anyway,
here they are:
1. Johannes Calvert [b. c. 1600 in Yorkshire; d. ?]
2. Susanna Calvert [b. c. 1601 in Yorkshire; d. ?]
3. Isabel Calvert [b. c. 1605 in Yorkshire; d. ?; married John
Hoopes
2/24/1627 or 1628 in Yorkshire] (John Hoopes had a brother, Robert,
who is in
my direct line through his daughter's marriage to Ezekiel Duck,
and
their
daughter Elizabeth's marriage to George Harlan. Later on,
you'll see
how the
Harlans hook up to the Hollingsworths. This gets real complicated.)
4. Ellin Calvert [b. c. 1606 in Yorkshire; d. ?]
5. Edward Calvert [b. c. 1607 in Yorkshire; d. ?]
6. Elizabeth Calvert [b. c. 1608 in Yorkshire; d. ?]
7. John Calvert [b. c. 1610 in Yorkshire; d. ?]
8. Thomas Calvert [b. c. 1617 in Ireland; d. 2/17/1685 in New
Castle, DE].
See more below.
Thomas Calvert married Jane Glasford [b. c. 1620-1626 in Ireland; d.
after
1685, probably in DE; daughter of Hugh Glasford and Margaret
Stranmillis].
They married 11/11/1647 in Ireland. They had 4 children, one of whom
was the
Anne who married Valentine Hollingsworth.
I've run out of steam. I'll fill you in on Anne's siblings in
another
e-mail.
Bye for now.
Terry
