My aunt found this copy of John Porter will
Hoping someone can use it. we have not been able at this time to connect it

our family.
this is the third John Porter wills she has found.
This is the first one for Virginia
I also have other information but it is long, I have try to cut and paste to
make it shorter, no luck. I would like to sent it to the list, but, I'm
scare

Will of John Porter
dated June 25, 1731
proved November 16, 1733
In the name of God, I John Porter of the County of Norfolk, being in
perfect health & sound in memory thancks to be to the allmighty God; I
bequeath my soule to God that gave it etc. into his hands I commit my
Sperrit, Trusting in the merrits of my blessed Saviour who redeemed me
with
his most precious Blood for Pardone and forgiveness of all my sins. I
doe
make this my last will & testament revoakeing all other wills heretofore
made by me; I commit my Body to the Earth to be decently buried, and
afterwards by debts is justly paid I dispose of all my goods that it hath
pleased god to bless me with all as followes. Viz-----
Primis, I give and bequeath unto my Son Willoughby Porter and to his Heirs
Lawfully begotten of his body foreever, three negroe men, by name Jack,
Triolus, Samm and one negroe Boy by name Abraham. Allso Two negro women
by
name Paul, Sarah, and three negroe Girles by name Uenus, Nanny and
Beck.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my Son John Porter and to his heirs
Lawfully
begotten of his body for ever, three negroe men by name Billy,
Strephon,
Cupid, also two negroe women by name Jenny, Cibah and one negroe girle by
name Hannah.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Porter and to her heirs
lawfully begotten of her body forever one negore girls by name Kathern,
which she has now in Antiqua, allso a side saddle with a blew velvet cover
and furniture trimmed with silver.
Item, It is my will and that if either of by sons Deys without heirs of
their body lawfully begotten, then for his part of my estate to desend to
the Survivor, and by daughter Sarah and to their heirs of their body
lawfully begotten for ever.
Item, It is my will and pleasure that if both my sons deys without heirs
ofk their body lawfully begotten then for my whole estate real and
personallto desend to by daughter Sarah Porter and to her heirs for ever.
Item, I give and bequeath unto by two sons Willoughby Porter and John
Porter and their heirs lawfully begotten of their body forever nineteen
hundred and seventy acres of land up the West River at Cape Fear and all
my
personal estate in Virginia, allso I give unto my two sons and to
their
heirs all my land in Virginia all which estate to be equally divided
between them share and share alike.
Item, It is my will and pleasure that Captain Cornelius Calvert has the
bringing up my two sons until they come to the age of twenty. Then
Item, I doe nomiate ordaine constitute and appoint Captain Cornelius
Calvert, Captain Solomen Wilson, and Captain Thomas Willoughby my
executors
