Dan,
Re ROBERT, I think I may be the one who raised the question about the why?
of Benedict S's citing 8 chidren including 3 sons in his request for more
land, if the sons, as later indicated, did not exist at the time. To me it
is quite obvious that three sons were alive then and it is the later history
that is flawed. I think I photocopied the "died young" reference in a book
held in Historical library on the grounds of the Calvert Mansion near he
campus of the Univ. of Md. All that property at one time belonged to George
and Rosalie and heirs. From whence came the original information, I don't
know.
It was a little later that I found the 1764 or 65 letter in aryland
Archives in Annapolis. I think you told me that a ROBERT Calvert, likely a
brother of your WILLIAM attended Wiliam's wedding, accompanied by wife of
the same name and place of birth, Scotland? or Ireland? as the wife of the
ROBERT of 1795 immigration to Venago County, Pa.
I was mistaken in citing a L B 7 as the one to whom the letter was written.
I see that Frederick was the sixth and last.
Rgds,
Galen Calvert
