Dear Linda,
Visiting your website, I discovered that Synthia
Elizabeth Harrison (1705 -1741) supposedly
married George Calvert (1700-1771). The marriage
is shown as occurring in 1725 and they had one
son named William Calvert.
The Harrison and Calvert families were closely
connected and there is a good chance that Synthia
could have married a Calvert. Whether or not she
married this particular George is questionable.
If Synthia married George Calvert in 1725, then
she would have been the 1st of 3 wives. From a
deed dated June 16, 1731 we know with abosolute
certainity that George Calvert was married to a
woman whose first name was Constant (or
Constance). We know that Constant died and George
remarried in 1741 to a woman whose first name was
Sarah. This is again from written legal documents.
A possibility exists that George could have
married Snythia first (before Constant), however
George had four sons who were born before 1730
They were Obed , George, John, William, and
Humphrey.
It is of interest, that the son George named one
his daughters "Cynthia", perhaps after his mother
(Snythia). The other sons Obed , William, and
Humphrey each named one of their daughters
"Constant", perhaps after their mother
(Constant).
Needless to say I would be very interested in the
sources of this information about Synthia
Elizabeth Harrison.
