Sorry, but I made a mistake about the parentage of
the "Benedict Swingate Calvert" mentioned in
yesterday's message. Galen Calvert is studying
Benedict's line in much the same way you
are attempting to trace John Calvert's ancestors.
What follows is Galen's correction to my message.
Dear George, Glad you are alive and well. Have
been trying to come up with a way to say this
diplomatically but having failed that will presume
on our joint famous last names and asking your
forgiveness tell you, you erred. My main study,
Benedict Swingate was illegitimate son of Charles
and thus a half brother of that no good Frederick.
He found himself writing to Frederick, the
reigning Lord for more land for HIS, eight or so
kids. I saw somewhere that Frederick had at least
one wife but think she died childless as Fred was
too busy elsewhere.
