Where is part of the problem. Later census only indicate state of birth
of individual and their parents. Then there is always the person that
answers the census taker not really knowing, but gives an answer
anyway. One of my other Maxwell ancestors was born in SC by the 1850
census. I "polled" all of his kids in that and later censuses and it
becomes obvious that they didn't have a clue where he was born. I now
think that he may have been born in the Madison Co, AL area.
My Calverts seem to be Madison, Walker, Hancock, Blount Cos. in the
early to mid-1850's and then they took off for parts unknown, except
those that were in Polk Co, TX by 1860.
