Brigham Young University in coordination with the LDS is setting up a
DNA
database project wich will be completed in 4-8 years. I donated my blood
for DNA testing as well as a 4 generation pedigree. According to the
information which I received before hand they will, when this is completed
be able to pin point where your ancestors came from. They are not only
using the y chromosome from males but the michondral chromesome from
females to follow these down through the generations to see where we
immigrated from. This has been used in testing the Egyptian Kings down
through King Tutencommen. There was a PBS special in the spring about this
Egyptian testing. You might check and see if BYU is still accepting
pedigrees and blood samples.
They say when the database is complete you can send in
another sample and
they can then trace your molecular genealogy.

I've pondered the following: Is there anyone on this list who has
the
contacts/connections to explore the possibility that we could set up a
"Calvert" DNA database where we could contribute DNA from each of the lines
and determine how they match up? In other words, we might be able to
determine from whom my William descends, even though we don't have the
documentation. Or, conversely, we might establish for certainty that my
William did not descend from any of the "famous" Calverts.
