Fascinating, do the ancestors of John, b 1756, harken back to Leonard Calvert, of Danby
Wiske.
The letter, To the Heirs of Lord Baltimore, 1924, refers, I believe, to court case
involving the Chenowith line and which was unsuccessful.
I would also like to know more of the Williamsport Calverts, as most of the 18th century
Calverts with which I am familiar are in Maryland and Virginia, and points West.
I would also like to know the connection with the O'Driscolls of Baltimore, Ireland.
Having done an exhaustive search to determine why Lord Baltimore chose that particular
name, I came to the conclusion that we will never know. Even Dr. Krugler, the author of
"English and Calvert: Sir George and Sir Cecil Calvert", wasn't able to
enlighten me on the subject. Sir George did buy property in County Wicklow, but I was
unable to find that he was at all involved in County Cork.
