T. Calvert m. Flora Ann Killam. (Her sister
Metta Killam m. my uncle David Mullendore of Howard, KS and later lv.
Wichita, KS).
The Calvert family were farmers and
settled in Elk Co., KS. Active in church
and civic affairs. Wm. & Flora Ann had
5 ch. They later moved to Howard, KS
(birthplace of my father). Wm Calvert
deacon in Howard Christian Church.
Ch. Edith Blanche, 1882-1901; Harley
James; Serena d. inf.; Homer (1894-
1906); & Willis Eugene.
Harley James, 1885, Elk Co., KS d. 1969,
m. Edith Payne d/o Riley & Robinette
Payne. Harley & Edith farmed in various
places, but retired to Howard, KS. They
had 4 Ch.
1. Ralph Lowell Calvert b. 1910 m.
Dorothy Mann of Hutchinson, KS.
Ph.D. from U. of IL. Served in
Navy, WWII and then was prof. at
Utah State U. & did special research
for US Gov't in Sandia Base,
Albuquerque, NM. Retired in 1974.
Had 2 ch. Carl Arthur & Carolyn
Marie.
2. Marian Kathleen Calvert, b. 1915 m.
Glen Clopton of Madison, KS, 1942.
Glen served in WWII. Marian taught
school in Pratt, KS. At the time the
book was written they lived in
Valley Center.Traveled extensively.
3. Kenneth Clair Calvert b. 1922 m.
Barbara Woodward, Pasadena CA.
He majored in forestry at Utah State
and served in the So. Pacific, WWII.
Returned to KS... moved around in
the state and then to Potlatch, ID.
Moved to Alaska, Kenai, did con-
struction work. 6 Ch: Martha, Curtis,
Carol, Russell, Bruce, and Martin.
4. Robert Wayne Calvert b.1924 m.
Grace Hogan of PA. V-12 at
KS State U. Emporia, in the
Marines. Made his career in the
service and lived in Oceanside,
CA. 2 ch: Paul & Donna
Willis Eugene Calvert s/o Wm. & Flora,
b. 1899, d. 1928. M. Gladys Moffet of
Howard, KS. He taught for a few years
and then moved to OK. Worked for an
oil Co.and was killed in an explosion.
There was one child, Evelyn, m. & dv.
John Liscome of Wichita---1 son. M.
#2 Harold Hamilton of Cheney. Worked
in Everett, WA.
