I am glad to see some activity on the list again and wish I had something to contribute.
My family line begins with James Calvert who was born in 1806 in Virginia, married to an
Eleanor McPhadon or it could have been McFadden since I have not found the former name.
She was born around 1801, also in Virginia. But, on her death certificate in 1876 in
Michigan, it states her father Patrick was born in Ireland and her mother in Pennsylvania.
I am not sure when they got to Virginia.
All this talk about DNA makes me wish I could go dig up my g.g. grandfather and get some
DNA so we could maybe find out exactly where our lines come from.
My g. g. grandfather James migrated on to Belmont County, OH. and from there to Michigan.
Wish I had more of the early information. My mother said her mother (the granddaughter of
James) always said the family came from England.
We have the usual Leonards in our family, in fact there were several of them.
