Vicki,
Your father should do the DNA test if you want to try to match and find
ancestors....meaning if you have a brick wall, it can really tell you wehere to look.
I am sorry if I missed your question. I had invited all to post
their family line at Calvert_Genealogy E-Group and post a
data base so that others could see what ancestry you have that is known
It may be that others have not been able to connect to your family.
I general post at the Calvert Board at
Genealogy.com, sometimes at
Rootsweb etc.
If you search
Genealogy.com Calvert or Melungeon Board you will see
my known line and much of the headway that I have made over the past
year and a half.
I have added your email address to the Yahoo Group for the Calvert DNA Project and you
can go there, go to the message board and post a query or what you are looking for. Also
be sure to at least include a file (add a text file or Treemaker descent chart to the
Files section(see the left sidebar, click files, click add, click browse to find your txt
file or report and add it....If you wish to sign your father up to do the test just let me
know.
I will go to the Family Tree DNA site and send you and invitation.
From there follow directions. THey ship the kit, you take two mouth
swabs and then ship the kit back. It takes about a month after that
to get the results. Make sure you sign the release to make the results
public. Also, I highly recommend the 25 Marker test in almost all cases. The cost of the
12 marker is 99 and the 25 is 169.00 so doing
it in one shot saves you about 10 bucks.
If you wish to email me directly with your questions please feel free
to do so...daipdq(a)juno.com. If you go to the yahoo group you can see Isaac Calvert's
descent in the Files section. from my sons to Isaac is 9 generations. I have possible
suspects for two more generations But have been stuck at Isaac for most of the time I have
been working on
the genealogy...
Meanwhile, I will go look at what you have posted at Rootsweb.
Regards,
David Bell

I think I have asked this before but I will do it again. Is there not anyone
on this list who connects with my Calvert line? My father and his brother
are living but both are in their 80's. Should I get a kit and hang on to it
and if I do, why would I? This probably doesn't make any since to anyone but
me. Thanks, Vicki

Hi Jim,
The Calvert DNA Study Group Calvert 13 at Family Tree DNA has the
