Hi, I have a Thomas CALVERT b 15th May 1854 Son of Hiram CALVERT (rumour has
it that Hiram changed his name to Hugh).
There may be no connection, but I know that Hiram left his native Strabane in
Northern Ireland after 1858 and he is believed to have gone to Philadelphia
PA.
I met his Grand daughter Veronica in Los Angles in 1987, when she was 97.
She told me that she had gone to USA when she was a child and that she had
been passed around to various relatives that were already in USA. She told
me that she had been passed to relatives in Canada, Pittsburgh PA, and Ohio.
It was Vera that told me that Hiram had died in PA.
Vera was a Roman Catholic, but I do not know the religion of Hiram.
I also knew that there were relatives over in USA before, because my
Grandfather Patrick CALVERT inherited a small sum of money from an intestacy
of a person named BURK or BURKE of PA.
As I say, there may be no connection, but if you have Irish roots, maybe
there is.
Let me know if any of the above rings any bells.
Regards, Jim
