William Calvert b 1757 (or 1754)
George,
Your DNA results do not match the existing PW County Calverts.
I find no way at this point, to associate any of the Calverts descended from George
Calvert who married Elizabeth Doyne, Ann Notley or ? nor does your DNA sample match that
of the Harrison Alias issue of John Calvert. Those two avenues have closed.
I would not rule out descendants of William 1666 or Richard 1669 but I should be able to
prove association on either with participants from these two family lines. The objective
here would be to find descendants of Isaac, William Wheeler, Alexander Neal, or Michael,
Levin of Somerset County. Farther back, there is William(1 and 2), Levin(1).
As I have speculated (only), the William Calvert found in 1726/33 court records and
taxlist(1730-40) is whom my focus addressed in PW County, MD(Eastern Shore). I think also
that Kent Co needs specific research attention as well. This William is very likely the
father of Levin and Alexander Calvert, likely others. He is positioned documentation wise
by 1726 as a Planter which would mean that he at least is a man of some means by that
date. I suspect he is the William born in 1690 according to some data who is possibly the
son of William Calvert b 1666, son of the PSOM William who married Elizabeth Stone.
A note should go along with this research indicating the alternate spellings found which
are Colbert and Colvert, among others. The Isaac Colbert who married ? had a son William
who married Bridgit Howard should be included in seeking data about these Calverts.
Since William of 1666 was alive in 1697(according to the court record I found and Ella
Foye O'Gorman's DoVa Calverts, letters of Nicklin and EFO regarding William's
line, etc), I think that William 1666 married a Robinson and did have a family, William of
1690 being the object of my speculation. If this is true, there are likely other Calverts
who would be children of this William. I see evidence of the following also: A John
Calvert in 1708 in the Baltimore Hundred. Ethylbert Doyne of PW Co Will and Estate in
Somerset(descended from Robert Doyne which shows that the Calverts of Stafford have a
relationship via MD back down around the other side of the Chesapeake in probably Kent and
Somerset as well as other counties.
There is a lot of opportunity for research here that appears not to have been delved into.
Why? These Calverts are early in the Colonies, with a geographic proximity that should
lead to a lot of research.
I will continue with my effort in this area of MD and report what more I find. It is my
opinion that other Calvert descendants who are seeking connections may find them here.
I posted a summary of what I found at
Genealogy.com about the Calverts and adjacent
families of Somerset and would be glad to provide whatever I found to anyone who gets into
the research.
