Gary Lee Calvert and Linda Parrish:
My husband (Andrew J (Jack) Walters) is descended from Edward Calvert. I do
have quite a bit about this family, so please contact me if you would be
interested in pursuing this genealogy. I am listing a few facts from my
information:
EDWARD CALVERT - b abt 1788 in Tennessee [from 1850 U.S.Census, Saline
County, Ark, p 96 D 169, Edward Calvert, age 62, b Tennessee]
EDWARD CALVERT - married (1) NANCY CANTERBERRY (also spelled Canterbury)
April 19, 1809
(2) RUTH POSEY March
17, 1844
One of Edward's four sons was Alexander, who married Elizabeth A Posey
December 25, 1843, in Saline county Arkansas. I have found several
indications that Elizabeth was the daughter of Ruth Posey, who married
Alexander's father Edward. After Edward's death in 1867, Ruth Posey Calvert
is found living (1867-1870) with her son Edward Posey.
My husband's mother was Ruthy Jane (Calvert) McClung, (granddaughter to this
same Edward Calvert) and wife of Benjamin Franklin McClung, who was son of
Joseph McClung, son of Benjamin Hugh McClung who married Phoebe Hubbert abt
1803, Sevier Co, Tennessee. Phoebe's brother Benjamin Hubbert (according to
my information too) m REBECCA CALVERT, daughter of Robert Calvert and ??.
There is a lot more mingling of the Calverts and McClungs.
I have more information, as I said, but nothing more on the Posey's, nothing
at all on Samuel Ward. We probably all have information on several Leonard
Calverts. I have not been able to find proof about Edward Calvert's father,
so I will take advantage and ask for information if anyone has found him.
Circumstantial evidence points to Thomas Calvert. Thank you for taking time
to read all this. and a very large THANK YOU, Gary, for sharing this great
find.

Hi Gary,
Your book looks like quite a find and perhaps will provide clues for some
CALVERT researchers; what caught my eye was the name POSEY. I found out
just yesterday that there was a POSEY marriage in my line of CALVERTs:
My very sketchy line goes like this:
Edward CALVERT b. 2 Sep 1789 Sevier Co. TN
Rebecca CALVERT b. abt 1793 Sevier Co. TN (my 4 great grandmother, m.
Benjamin HUBBERT 1809 Sevier Co. TN)
Rebecca and Edward are possibly children of a Robert CALVERT.
Edward had a son, Alexander CALVERT b. 28 Nov 1821 Limestone Co. AL, who
m.
Elizabeth Ann POSEY, b. 1825 SC, dau of Samuel POSEY and Ruth BERRY.
As you're perusing your book, please look for any mention of the above
folks. I would be dee-lighted to know more about them.

Subject: [CALVERT] Leonard Calvert biography 1846 book....
Greetings.
I have recently acquired a book that I would like to
know if anyone has an idea of it's value.
I am not planning on selling it anytime soon. But
curious if anyone else has seen this book anywhere.
It appears to be the age that is printed in the book 1846.
It also has never been read since the pages at the
top of the book are uncut on each of 4 page pairs.
That is to say that facing pages 6 & 7 would be
uncut with pages 5 & 8 uncut over the top of the
inside pages. So every 4 pages I would have to
cut the top pair of pages with an exacto knife.
The book is brown about 4 1/2 X 7 inches.
A couple of inside pages read:
--------------
The Library of American Biography
conducted By Jared Sparks
second series
VOL. IX.
--------------
Lives of
Leonard Calvert.
Samuel Ward.
and
Thomas Posey.
