My Mary E. Calvert who married Mathew Arnold lived in Missouri where their four children
were born: Harvey A in either 1864 or 1865 (1910 Census Walla Walla County, Two Rivers
Precinct, Washington, page 59), William Yancey on 3 Dec 1865 (death certificate), Edward
George or George Edward about 1872 (1910 Census Walla Walla County, Two Rivers Precinct,
Washington, page 57), and Kate, birthdate unkown.
William Yancey's death certificate states that his parents were both born in
Kentucky.
The children of William Yancey Arnold and Hattie Brown that were born in Missouri are:
1. Edward Brown Arnold born about 1893 (1910 Census listed above)
2. Merry Bruxie (Brooksie) Arnold born 24 Sep 1894 in Jefferson City, Cole, Missouri
3. Lucille Arnold born about 1897 (1910 Census listed above)
4. Matthew Arnold born about 1899 (1910 Census listed above)
Those children born in Washington were:
5. Earl Arnold born about 1903 (1910 Census listed above)
6. Lawrence Arnold born about 1908 (1910 Census listed above)
The 1910 Census listed above state that William and Hattie were both born in Missouri.
A family legend goes that either the Arnolds or the Browns supplied horses for the Civil
War, which side is not for sure but legend says the Confederacy.
Here is the problem: I have researche dthe Web and i foind thast there are 4 Mary E
Arnolds born in the 1840's.
1. The one born about 1849 in Howard County, Missouri to Martin Calvert (born 1815) and
Mary S. Rawlings. (Neil S Smith, researcher)
2. The one born about 1846 to James Calvert (born 1812) and Lydia Rardin.
3. The one born about 1842 to Richard Calvert (born 1808) and Rachel Killpatrick.
4. The one born 18 Feb 1843 to Samuel Calvert (born 1805) and Louisiana Stephens.
Isn't it a coincidence that one generation has 4 Mary E Calverts born in a 10 year
period?
Can anyone help me determine which one of these is my Mary E. Calvert who married Mathew
Arnold in Cooper County, Missouri in 1864?
Thanks,
Weldon Mersiovsky
