Message Board Post:
I am seeking descendents of Elza Ewing Calvert who might be able to shed some insight into
the Calverts of Wetzel County WV. Specifically, Elza Ewing had a son, Carl Willard by his
first wife Ester Dale. The Dales and McCoys of OK are relatives and Patrick McCoy, son of
Boone is my 2nd cousin twice.
Anyway, Robert James and Patricia Colleen children of Carl Willard Calvert. Colleen
married an Adams and had at least one child, Robbin Elaine. I do not know about a marriage
for Robert James or issue. He is or was a minister and is of my generation. Sherri
Calvert is the daughter Shannon WIley Calvert. It might be spelled Sherry.
My mother, Dorthey Lee Calvert, daughter of Arthur Clay who was the eldest sibling of John
Ewing Calvert and Martha Lemasters of WV is the brother of Elza Ewing Calvert. Some time
in the mid 1930s the Calvert family roll (A history of the Calverts of my line) and the
pocket watch of John Ewing Calvert was passed to Elza. My presumption is that either
Robert James or Patricia Calvert received what ever Elza passed along, perhaps even a
bible or other Calvert family documents. It is possible that Sherry Calvert, daughter of
Shannon Wiley Calvert Jr who married Zola [--?--] might know about where the possible
Watch, documents and Calvert Roll might be.
Dorthey Calvert and Boone McCoy thought that Patricia was in posession of these items.
Dorthey and my father last talked to Carl Willard about 1986 or 1988...some time in there
and discussed family heritage and the fact that one of the children of Elza had the
materials. I do believe that Boone McCoy thought this as well. Sherri, as I understood it,
moved to Georgia. I do not know if or whom she married. Patricia married a farmer Robert
Adams and they moved from OK to another state.
I have searched for Robert James and have drawn a blank.
I would not know who might have them but if anyone can help me with finding Robert,
Patricia and Sherri I would greatly appreciate it...or one of their descendents...
Thanks very much,
David Bell
