Cathy,
I have not taken a hard look at Cecil I guess. Let me put it this way:
Somewhere, in my vision of these John Calverts, that the history of Mifflin and the
formation of Centre make it such that if John of 1766 and in OH has children born Mifflin
or Centre that he is the John calvert son of John Calvert of Mifflin County.
DNA will show us if those two family descents match or not. If you then take a look at
what might Isaac have done... it could be that he came from MD to Chester then west. if he
also is the son of John Calvert of Mifflin, where did they come from? We know there are
scattered records of Isaac and John calvert back in Chester, or in Somerset co MD or in
Queen Anne's Co MD. There is a marriage in Delware of Isaac to Elizabeth Gart. 1768. I
think this surname is a mistran. It is Garrs or Gars or Garsten or something. There are no
other Gart or Garths at all anyway. We have the story of other descendents of Isaac who
say he fought at Brandywine in 1777 and the stream turned red with blood.
We have also the story that Thomas Clare moved the millworks over the mountains from MD to
build his mills on Rudolph run of Dunkard Cr in Greene County...
There is a John Calvert in the Hollingsworth literature, noted as not being quaker,
presumed to be of the Baltimore Calverts. There is John and Daniel who obtain a permit for
a pub in Chester who are not Quaker.
One thing for sure is that it appears to me that John of Belmont OH 1766 is the son of
John of Mifflin. Isaac remains unattached but he came from some family to western PA/VA.
Your line hasn't got a past as yet and all that you find in your research is going one
of two directions.... In running across potentional Calverts, for me, I am seeking a John
or William Calvert or both and a third who had a brother George. This is the alternate
family line story...
I think though, passed down in family history is the single theme of the family coming
from Maryland, related to the Lord's Baltimore but not direct descendents, and they
came from "....Bucks and Lancaster, England...." according to a news article
quoting John D Calvert b 1804.
Which Bucks and which lancaser and does Lancaster mean Lancashire? I have found no
demonstration of the fact. But this John knew the living Aunties who were daughters of
Isaac Sisters of Thomas, both of whom would be over 90 at the time of the article in 1881.

David, I've been working on some Milligans who left Cecil Co, very near
Chester Co line, before 1800 and moved to Mifflin Co. Since my Sarah
Calvert was in Cecil Co, b abt 1800, I'm wondering if your John Calvert may
have also moved from Cecil or Chester Co to Mifflin Co. But I'm not having
much luck finding Calverts here, except the Baltimore group and the Quaker
group.

Hi,
I am trying to sort through the ancestry of my family lines to John
Calvert and
Esther "Hetty" Jones and am seeking clarity, additional
information, etc on the descent which affects my family ancestry
specifically via the sister of the 3 brothers mentioned in the subject--Jane
and/or the youngest sister of all the Siblings, Sarah who married George
Elliott. Jane Married Benjamin Taylor.
There is a succinct possibility to tie the ancestry of several Calvet
families of
the era together, all of whom have reached an impasse. We know
that some of the Children of John Calvert b 1766 were born in Centre Co
PA(This relates to John Calvert of Mifflin County, Bald Eagle TWP.
Another two researchers are known to have John of Mifflin county in their
ancestral
line. Besides the tie between Darrell Elliott and myself via Jane
Calvert and Sarah Calvert, I have Isaac Calvert as my eldest known ancestor;
Darrell and I both believe that John b 1766 and Isaac born 1747 are related.
The fact that some of John's children are born in Centre County, PA also
indicates a relationship.
Having the DNA from the various families would clearly demonstrate if they
are from
the same common ancestor.
If you know of someone who is a male Calvert of the descent of John
Calvert or his
sons, noteably the 3 Jacob J, William Shepherd or John
Pernell Calvert (JR) I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thanks, David Bell
