I thought I would add a postscript here for the complete picture of things as we have
found in the past year:
1. Edward Calvert was a cousin of the three brothers, Joseph B 1782, Jonathan b 1790,
William b 1793, 2 of three of whom were deeded land from William Calvert. William Calvert
came from TN to AL
2. and before that Botetourt CO VA. He was one of the first to settle in Sevier Co Tn
among three brothers himself(there may be more, and if there is another, it is Thomas b c
1750). From the research of two of the members who have worked with the Calvert Surname
project at
familytreedna.com and including the DNA proofs that we have garnered to date.
3. the Brothers of Botetourt are james, Robert and William,
each having import into the Calverts of the South and West.
4. One of the problems that we have encountered is that we did not know how Ella
O'Gorman acheived stating that Robert Calvert of Calvert Tx came from the descent of
Richard Calvert b 1669, son of William Calvert, PSOM d 1682 who was hte son of Leonard
Calvert first Governor of MD.
The answer remains unknown as the data in Descendants of VA Calverts is clearly wrong.
What we have is that a family researcher knows that James Calvert had son William Calvert,
this William m Lucy Rogers. I the family group descent is a son Robert B 1802.
Robert Calvert b 1802 d 1867 at Calvert Tx m Mary Keesee.
William Calvert b 1775 d c 1826, Lucy has a land transaction in AL in her own name at this
date. We do not
know who the father of James Calvert is, one of three brothers.
Robert Calvert had Edward Calvert b 1788 m Nancy Canterbury
WIlliam Calvert removed to AL and deeded land to 2 of 3 sons, William and JOnathan. (the
remainder is largely documented in Dewel Lott's book "Our Calvert Kin".
Now I am not researching this family line per se, but have worked on parts of it, and I am
extrapolating from what others have done. Robert Calvert of Atoka son of Robert, grandson
of Robert and great Grandson of Edward Alexander b 1853 was my interest. Edward A was b
1853, son of Patrick
Taylor. Now this Robert of Atoka is one of our DNA participants.
I hope giving you this view will aid in the research.
(Jeanne!!! We need to chat, we have another DNA sample).
David
