Hi Vicki...No, these Calverts are not the same DNA family line as the Prince William
County Calverts(to which your family line belongs as I recall).
However, I do believe that the Calverts who came to TN and are documented in Dewel's
book, may be found to be a branch of the Descent of Richard Calvert, b 1669 m
Sarah(Possibility). We do have a strong indication that the Calverts listed as the oldest
group of Brothers,
Joseph b 1782, Jonathan b 1790, William b 1792/3 are truly brothers and sons of a William
Calvert(most likely).DNA will, I hope, show that this is true shortly and as well, whether
Edward Calvert b 1788 m Nancy Canterbury is a cousin or a brother. There is a tie of
Edward by DNA to these brothers, and a tie of his wife
Nancy to the Canterbury's of Sevier Co TN --this would bring us to the connection of
Robert, James and William Calvert of Botetourt Co VA(removed to TN) as being kin and
William then, likely the William who removes to TN and then deeds land to William and
Jonathan. Edward is proven Kin by DNA and we will know with greater certainty soon on his
DNA showing that he is a brother or a cousin. And since we are looking at it: William
Calvert b 1775 m Lucy Rogers may also be one of this family line with the potential thus
via Robert Calvert of Calvert Texas as being a son of this last William and descended from
Richard, son of William PSOM and ELizabeth Stone.
How much we can prove depends on further discovery of records, more family data and more
participation in the DNA project. Unfortunately, Robert b 1802 of Calvert Texas m Mary
Keesee has no male surviving line via which to garner DNA for the project.
I hope this explains where we are with the project in regard to the Calvert's of
Dewel's book and more.
If any one can help with information or participation in the DNA project, please contact
me directly or send an email to admin(a)calvertgenealogy.net.
Thanks,
David Bell
