The letter I am refering to was in regards to James and his questionable
activities. I am refering to a comment made by Charles Calvert in regards to
James going to California and the statement was made that he was a
bushwacker. I am not real clear on what a Bushwacker would be. I have thought
maybe a robber ? Also Charles states that James was offered to stay with
family members later in his life, but he could not bring "that woman" with
him.I am not sure who that woman was? Can you shed any light on that subject.
I didn't know if James had left Nancy and may have taken up with someone
else? There seemed to be reluctance on Charles' part to disclose the
bushwacker activity, and he made the statement that you may not want to tell
your children about that. Charles said that James refused and he died in the
poor farm in Missouri.(Ironton) Any info you can share is helpful. Seems that
there are always some kind of skeletons in the closet when one starts to look
closely. The letter also speaks of Calvert relations across the country that
he had met in his travels and where they were so the letter could have value
to someone else as well.
Thanks for any help in this . Susan Calvert
