Sorry...I misinterpreted.... Thought you were going to do research in UK. I did purchase
the book "early years" by foster and recently sent of for Dewells second
edition... just not returned yet. My library is too dang big and I am just me now and
divesting much of it to various libraries anyway...well...I was going to teach history one
day but I don't every want to move the dang books again....
I think Nicklin was to exclusive to De Jure Calvert. I think Wm b 1666 is the executor of
the will of WM Robinson and is the father of WM
who is the father of Alexander. No proof, just gut feel and the right place in time. At
least I think I am getting to Isaac's father and it ain't no Quaker Calvert if you
allow me the Tejas Vernacular. My regards,
When I go sometime this winter, if you would point me in any direction at this Mary
Calvert, I will try to look. My ancestor, John D wrote in
1881 short news interview that the family was from Bucks, England. THis was confused by
including the county Lancaster... I think was what the
author meant..Lancaster, PA or MD Bucks, England.

David,
I wasn't going to the UK, wish I were. I was questioning everyone on the
message board for information on Mary Calvert re Isaac Chapline.
I was looking at the ancestry for a friend who descends from Mary Calvert.
However, I have nothing to put her into Sir George's family as a sibling.
My limited knowledge comes from Sir George Calvert: The Early Years by
James W. Foster (of The Maryland Historical Society). I know from personal
knowledge as a cousin worked with him many years that he spent years
researching Sir George. The only siblings that he mentions in this book are
brothers George and Christopher.as mentined in the Acts of the High
Commission. "Leonard took bond that he would have no Catholic servants or
Catholic teacher for his children, and would buy winthin a onth a Bookkof
Common Prayer, a Bible in English and a catechism, all to lie open in his
house 'for everyone to read.' His children wer to be put to school in York
and not to leave without lecense from the Archibishop of York. Two of his
children -- probably the only offspring at this time-- were Geroge and
Christopher, named later in another order by the same authority."
Though only 4 chapters long (Book never finished), it continues until
1619-1620 and there is no additional information to be fouond about
Christopher, much less any other siblings.
Again according to Mr. Foster, there were many Calvert families established
in West Riding as well as North Riding, and he goes on to relate that there
were too many convoluted lines impossible to untangle.
I could go on but you get my drift. I'm still struggling to
figure out Mary.
I hope you have a wonderful trip and find some good information. You are
dealing with a time where many records are lost.
Best wishes,
Joanne Calvert

Joanne:
I know you made a recent trip to the UK and you were going to look for
Mary. Did
you find anything? My 3rd Cousin Dale Harlan just returned(these
are the Calvert Families of WV and Western VA and PA) and I had asked him to
see what he could find to no avail. He did search Yorkshire and Lancaster
and elsewhere.
I did not post this at ancestry, rather at
Genealogy.com, related to what
I have
found recently.
I believe Isaac Calvert who married Faney Bulet(Sic both given and sur) is
the son
of Alexander Calvert who Married Mary WHeeler, Somerset County MD
1744. They named first son Williiam(supposedly after father) and 2nd son
Isaac after Mary's father, Isaac WHeeler son of Edward. This is not proven
but does tie into the family heritage putting them in MD. I find tax list
record for Isaac Colbert 1783, Queen Anne's and he and William I believe in
same county, 1790. Then Isaac Colbert Colvert and Colbert 1800 thru 1820
Census, Greene County PA.
In the same somerset records are Nutters whom the Calverts later marry
over in
Wetzel so I think this is a good indication that Alexander is the
father of Isaac. I have also land records that appear to tie these
Calverts(by documents, named Calvert but Census is Colbert), and seem to
follow the western migration route to western VA.
I think I will be in the UK around Christmas. It would be good if you
could update
us on Mary and anything else. Dale is elderly and I have yet to
be filled in about his findings. He was looking at William Calverts trying
to associate for me, Alexander of William b 1690 to 1700. We know we have
the Will of Wm Robinson c
1796 where William Calvert was Executor. His own will assigns
un-named
guardian to his son Wm after 1700...this is the father, I think of
Alexander.
Waiting with interest to see what you found. I will of course forward what
Dale
Found. Dale Harlan's father married a Calvert of my line in WV that
were formerly VA . Suffice it to say I know that Isaac Calvert(Colbert)
married Frances. Also, thanks for the look up in Dewell Lott's book. I spent
a good portion of the day going over the books of Somerset (worchester) Co
MD on Saturday and spend a bit of each Sat at the library.
Right now, I am looking at Alexander Calvert as the father of Isaac who is
in
Greene Co. PA. Not proven but certainly is not an Isaac who is quaker
from Ireland(per family heritage, not quaker).
thanks for all of your help.. my regards,
David
