JOhn Courts, the immigrant who came to Maryland in 1635 as an indentured servant of James
Neale and later on August 3, 1647 was granted land in Maryland on the date of August 3,
1647 was married to Margaret Robinson, daughter of Leonard Calvert, Second Lord Baltimore.
In looking over doucments of the will of the deceased wife of Leonard Calvert, there was
not mention made of a Margaret Calvert among his legal heirs and children. It is known
that Leonard Calvert was a very good friend of Mistress Margaret Brent, in fact he named
her executrix of his estate instructing her to "take all and pay all" could the
Margaret Calvert, who became the wife of John Courts of Charles County, Maryland and the
mothr of John Courts II who was the husband of Charity Henly, be the illegitiment daughter
of Leonard Calvert and Mistress Margaret Brent? any information would be greatly
appreciated, thank you very much
