The only comments I would make here are:
There is no evidence that John Calvert was the brother of George, 1st Lord.
John Calvert probably died after 1650. He was buried in the Quaker Burying ground at
Moyraverty. This means that he was interred after the Quakers arrived and hence, was
allowed burial even though there is no record of John himself being a Quaker. I suggest
that he died around 1655-60 but this is only a guess.
If the families of Calverts were Kin, then we have an anomoly of genetics due to birth by
accident or adoption. Those Calverts descend ostensibly from Leonard Calvert match each
other at 37 marker comparisons with exactitude. there are other groups that cannot be
considered the same family line but are very close. In some of those cases, I have been
able to set an example base comparison and use that to match Calverts and garner at least
a more distant kinship, switch it to another base sample and match a completely different
set of Calverts. The point being here is that the sample pool is still too small to be
able to make any projection or pronouncement.
The larger the sample pool the more we will be able to do.
In my other post to Joanne...I layed out some of what we ahve seen from the samples and
comparisons to date. We do indeed have a good database for the "Quaker" group
and for George Calvert. Also others, such as the Calverts of Botetourt and the Deep South.
I encourage any male Calvert to join the DNA project -- it can only help in providing
evidence and proofs. As noted,
we are presently stuck in proof for the George Calvert claimants to 1694 and George
Calvert, ostensibly son of George 1668(circa) and William c1643...
Best regards,
David Bell
