I'm not sure if I can help. My grandmother was a Calvert. Her father, David W. Calvert, came over from County Down with his Father John and Mother, Mary Jane Nesbitt....sometime in the mid 1800's I'm thinking. My great Aunt Helen Calvert has a little information, pictures and such. I know John had at least one brother who went to the states. The other two that I'm aware of settled first just north of Dorchester, Ont. I think in Oxford Co.
Perhaps we can help one another out. I'm just getting started and have only been able to go back to my Great, Great Grandfather, but have no more information then that.

Hello List,
I recently purchased a book (3 volumes) by Barnetta McGhee White, Ph.D., it's
called "Somebody Knows My Name" Marriages of Freed People in North Carolina
County by County. If at anytime anyone would like for me to look up someone
please don't hesistate to ask. The book is a record of cohabitation from
slavery to 1866-1868. Sometimes the book even gives the names of slave
owners.

Frank, Don't think my Calvert's have Kentucky ties. Mostly Texas, Missouri, Tennessee and Arkansas. And I don't see a Julia Muldar. If you have any other names I would be happy to check my records. I would love to find a connection. It seems all my Calvert's have passed and I am trying to find any cousins who are still around. I just found my Grandmother and her family and I am waiting for death certificates to verify the family connection.

HI Susan,
I keep coming back to your message as its really " bugging" me - in a good way of course. The reason being, your William Craven Calvert....... I have a Grace Ann Calvert born 1895 ( father was John Calvert)who married John CRAVEN, born 1896. I have found none of there children yet but im working on it but they did live in Wakefield for a while. It is possible that that they had children and could have named them "Craven Calvert" I realise the dates are out and your william was born before my Grace so couldnt possibly be a child but im thinking its possible to be relations and maybe married cousins etc.......... Its all just ideas at the moment and theories but like i say the similarities and coincidences are there. My Ledger family also moved to Woolongong, so thats another little extra! Sorry all this vague but like i say im working on the Craven Calvert as im convinced it might join up somewhere............ At the moment im stuck on John Calvert, born 1775 in Guiseley!
, West Yorks, so im trying other lines now until something turns up!
Look forward to hearing from you,
Karen. West Yorkshire.

Do have any relatives that may have lived around Stamping Ground Kentucky(Scott County); If so I may have some important info. My grandmother Julia Mulder was a Calvert.
I hope there is a connection.

Please keep my message. I have traced my ancestor calverts as far back as
your John; I keep wondering if my Thomas Calvert could be a brother,
considering the similarity in christian names of the children.
Thomas seems to have lived near Howden, Yorkshire.

Larry Calvert

Hi. I cannot answer your question, but I wonder if you might be able to answer mine. I am trying to find out information on Mary Templeton of Columbus Ohio who married a Paul Herrick Stoutt of Urichsville in 1912. She and he had one child--Paul Herrick Stoutt Jr. I would like to determine when she died or if she was somehow estranged from her husband by the late 1920's. Any clues?
Thanks in advance!

Your James Madison Calvert (the father) was brother to my ancestor, Craven Calvert. He was married to Mary Hughes Bagby and I have to check my notes, but I saw either her grave or a child's grave in Kickapoo, Kansas, when I was there several years ago. There is an article about father, James Madison Calvert, in Cutler's History of Kansas, which is on the Web if you go to Kansas genealogy -- or just put a search in for the name -- it should take you there. My line goes from Craven Calvert to James L. Calvert to Robert Craven Calvert to Maude Calvert (my grandmother). I realize your message was written several years ago, but I would love to hear from you and hear what you have found out in the past few years.
