Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Marvollee,
The John Calvert, shown as #8 on the list, is known as "John Calvert of
Elberta Co., Georgia". His grandson, George C. Hart, sent a letter to
the Calvert Western Heirs Association dated Feb. 5, 1913 stating that
John Calvert was a son of William Calvert of Mason Co., Ky. This
would be the William Calvert shown as #7 on the list.
Most likely, John is not the son of William Calvert of Mason County. All
of William's known heirs filed a lawsuit in Mason County protesting the
division of William's estate on March 2, 1812. William had eleven
children with two sons killed in the Rev. War. The family lines of the
remaining nine children have been traced. None of William's children
were named John. No where is there any indication William ever
fathered a child named John, other than the statement made in George
Hart's letter.
George C. Hart also mentioned in his letter that his own grandfather
George (son of John) had relatives in Tennessee named Carson,
William, and Grove or Groves Calvert. Again these names do not
connect with the family of William Calvert of Mason Co., Ky. Instead,
they connect with the family of David Calvert of Giles Co., Tenn. It is
suspected that your John Calvert was the brother of the David Calvert
who lived in Giles Co., Tenn. This David Calvert was born in Delaware.
My hunch is that John and David descend from the Quaker line of the
Calverts.

Dear Laura,
I agree--the evidence is still weak as I'm still showing that there is no marriage record for Leonard Calvert and Anne Brent myself. Teri Popp

Teri, Thanks for checking the records. I guess it's just one of
those
facts we accept but there should be a question mark used somewhere
in that Ann Brent
line to show we "know we don't know," to cover ourselves. It makes
the rest of the
data stronger to acknowledge weak links, in my opinion.

Is it still true that there has never been a marriage record discovered
for Anne Brent
and Leonard Calvert? Can we even prove they were on the same side of
the
Atlantic at the same time? The last time I worked on this about 10
years ago, there
was a very weak link in that area. Thanks Laura Crane
