I am still trying to confirm details of the first Richard's birth about
1805. In the censuses, he put down Kirklinton as his birthplace, but he is
not recorded in that parish register. I have found the birth of a Richard,
son of Richard Moscrop of Burnside and his wife Isabella, late Little. This
is a possibility, but I can't prove the relationship. Has anyone any ideas?
I've looked through the Stapleton BTs and can't find the birth of the
Richard of Burnside either. He eventually went to live in Churchtown
Sebergham and is buried there. The Stapleton records (BTs and parish
register) aren't in the IGI, but I have all the Moscrop references from the
BTs 1730 - 1812. I will gladly send these to anyone interested.
I would very much like to hear from anyone who is related to any of the
above Moscrops, especially the ones that emigrated to Canada and the USA.
Did you know there is a Moscrop Street in Vancouver (with a school named
after the street)??
Thanks to the Moscrop mailing list, I recently met a distant Moscrop cousin
from Australia!!
