I posted not long ago, but just to get into the spirit, here goes again:
I'm looking for Robert CALVERT (b. ca 1760-70), father of Rebecca
CALVERT(b. 1791, d. Mar 1872). Rebecca married Benjamin HUBBERT Jan 1809
in Sevier County, TN. Rebecca and Benjamin lived in Alabama before moving
to Saline County, Arkansas by 1850. They died in AR.
A Robert CALVERT is listed as one of the first court justices in Sevier
County, TN in 1796.
According to oral family history, Robert descends from the Lord Baltimore
CALVERTs, but you know how family tales are . . .I have found a Robert
CALVERT, son of Benedict Swingate CALVERT, but the source said he "died
young," no dates given.
Can anyone shed some light?

What is the current and/or accepted opinion on this lady? I have seen
several genealogies saying she was born c. 1527 in Hrstmncauxcastle,
Sussex, England, and married John Calvert c. 1545 in Yorkshire. [I have
also seen genealogies saying they married in 1575, but that can't be right
if she is the mother of their two children born in 1550 and 1553.] I have
seen her parents given as John Leonard or Lennard [b. c. 1508 in Kent; d.
3/12/1590 in Kent] and Elizabeth Harmon [b. 1520 in Kent; d. 10/26/1585 in
Kent] who married in 1538 in Kent. The problems with that theory are
obvious. If Dorothy was born in 1527 she can hardly have been the daughter
of a woman who was born in 1520 and married in 1538. Furthermore, all the
other children of John Lennard and Elizabeth Harmon were born after 1538.
The questions I have are these:
1. Was Dorothy Leonard the wife of John Calvert?
2. Who were her parents?
I have been searching for my mothers side of the Calverts. My mother thinks we are related to the Lord Baltimore family, but I have not proven it one way or the other. The following kind of sums up my Great Grandfather's life. Also he was married and had children by a first marriage but there is no mention in this in the following biography and I have found no relatives to the first marriage.
WILLIAM M. CALVERT, M.D., was born in (Smith TWP), Belmont County, Ohio, on (28) March, 1832. In 1842 his father moved the family to Meigs County, where William spent his young days in school and at labor on the farm. In 1856 he commenced the study of medicine with Dr. E. M. Beam, of Athens County, Ohio, and was engaged in the practice of his profession until the breaking out of the war, when, in 1861, he enlisted in the THIRTIETH OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY, with whom he remained until January, 1863. He then received an honorable discharge, on account of an injury received. He was on detached duty nearly all the time, connected with the medical and hospital department. He had eight (8) brothers and four (4) brother-in-law, all in the service. His father, JOHN CALVERT, who was born in (Centre Co) Pennsylvania, in (26 Aug) 1797, died in Ohio in 1871. His mother, formerly EDITH BEALE, was also born in (Green Co.) Pennsylvania, on the (25 Jun) 1802. She now lives in this coun!
ty, with a son-in-law, Mr. Reaves. They had sixteen (16) children, two of whom died in infancy. REV. JOHN PENNELL CALVERT, was killed in the battle of Shiloh (April 1862). He was First sergeant and was shot while urging his men on to duty. After returning from the army Dr. William Marion Calvert practiced for a while in Virginia. Then he returned to his native county in Ohio and was appointed county physician. In 1865 he came to Missouri and practiced for five (5) years in Warren and Montgomery counties. He subsequently went to Pike County, Illinois, where he had a large practice for eleven years. In 1878 he attended lectures at the St. Louis Medical College and was graduated from that institution. In October 1881, he moved to this city and has succeeded in establishing a liberal patronage. Dr. CALVERT married MISS CARIE (Carolina Melissa) MARTIN, of Montgomery County, Missouri, in 1870. **They have one child, Cecil (b.26 Jan 1882). The doctor is very kind and plea!

Here's my line of interest, in case anyone is connected. Generally, my line starts with the Baltimore's through George, supposed son of Leonard, down into KY with William, and finally to SC with the rest: Raleigh Calvert followed by my 4great-grandfather James, 3g-grandfather Ephraim Merada, gg-grandmother Mary Ann Frances Calvert who married William Andrew Thomas.

Hi,
Can you tell me where in IN this was? And do you have any names in your
database of LAME, MINOR, COX, DENNY, COPE?
Thanks!

Hi all,
I think it's a great idea if we all post what lines we're working on.
With as many people as come and go on email lists like this one,
there's always a chance there's someone new on the list that may
be your missing link. We are now up to 155 subscribers, so feel
free to post away!
Here's my line of interest, incase anyone is interested :)
Generally, my line starts with the Baltimore's through George,
supposed son of Leonard, down into Ohio and Jacob R Sr and Jr.
followed by my great-grandfather Harry and my grandfather Harry
Ross and my father (also on this list) Gary.
Also, I am thinking of starting up a sort of "round robin" Calvert
newsletter if anyone is interested in helping out. Will get back to
you with details in the very near future...

Subject: [CALVERT-L] who is out there
being new to this list I thought it would be interesting to find out the
areas people are searching in and where you are all from.
My names were posted yesterday so I wont repeat them again except to say
they are mainly in the Leyburn, Richmond and Ripon areas of Yorkshire in the
period 1860-1900.
This is my husband's line. These Calverts stayed in Yorkshire and didn't
emigrate to New Zealand until this century.
It would be interesting to hear where the rest of you are from.

Hi Debbie, I do not know anything on My Calverts, I have not got one lead, you
read my Query I am sure. That is it,
My brother remembers Haddie but he was only 3 then and 70 now he said she did
not speak English very well. And did not know what it was, she was 95 when
she died so she may have not spoke very plane.
Sandra
Hello:
My line is descended from Leonard Calvert, second son of Sir George and
eventually settled in Caldwell County, KY in the early 1800's. My father was
the first Calvert in several generations to leave Caldwell County. I am
currently living in Houston, Texas and am in the process of moving to Groton,
Connecticut.
I am new to this sort of thing and am trying to put together some information
and carry on the work my great-grandfather started a long time ago.
Let me know if I can be of any help.

seeking information Leonard Cecil and Phoebe (Waller) Calvert. M. 21 May

Cecil Calvert married Wava Ruth Shadley. Would love to find some

I found a Levi Calvert in the Springfield Mo area around 1860-1870 . Can't
remember which census. I was using census indexes so I really didn't look
anyfarther.
Sorry I can't be of anymore help.

Hi,
Was "Cecil" a popular name in the mid-later 1800's? I am also searching
for information on a Calvert Family: Harry (?) Calvert and Pauline Calvert
whose children were Mary "Mamie" Calvert McKechnie (1887-1961) and Ira
Cecil Calvert (about 1895-about 1944). Ira was supposed to have been born
in Joplin, Mo. The family moved to Alberta, Canada where they homesteaded.
Pauline later remarried and became Pauline Grose.
Does anyone have any ideas of where to check for possible connections?
Have tried most MO spots online, but so far no luck. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Sandie

RE HANKINS --hawkins
I have already sent some records to Vicki K Calvert Spencer.
Am making copies of other records at this time.
Will snail mail them to her soon. Proving the Caldwell Co., Ky. line is
HANKINS--not Hawkins..as stated in O Gormans book..

Thanks for the correction. Will go thru
O'Gorman and change names. I know
that there have been other errors, also.
Will check on the Hankins name in some
other book.
