Hi
I'm researching the Calvert family from Lincolnshire, England mainly from
Owmby and Lincoln itself. I'd love to know if anyone out there is
researching the same line.
My Great Grandfather was John Henry Calvert and was born in the
Lincoln Workhouse to Mary Ann Calvert (father unknown), I'm not sure what
became of Mary Ann but John Henry lived with his Grandfather John and Johns
second wife Mary Ann (nee Roberts). While John Henry was young he worked in
the fields as a bird scarer but in later life he taught himself to read and
write and read sermons at the local methodist church in Lincoln.
As I have said John Henrys grandfather was John Calvert of Owmby , his
grandmother was Elizabeth Driffill/Driffield Johns first wife.
Johns parents were William and Elizabeth Calvert and Elizabeths parents were
Thomas Driffill/Driffield and Sarah.
Hope somebody out there is connected! Thanks for reading
Sarah

Hi----Vicki's e-mail: txcalvert(a)erath.net
How are you? Hope things going well.
General question: I did answer a question re OH Calverts (some of
them). Hope that came thru. And I do have a connection with Glasscock
and Jackson &

Note: Second son of John T. Calvert (R.I.) was John Calvert, b. Abt. April
1840 and died July 22, 1864 at the Battle of Atlanta.
I would appreciate a connection with anyone researching on any of the above
families.
Betty
Sorry I gave you the wrong site number on the census records. I guess I
typed down the page I was on. Try this:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pointe/4320/
Click on to CENSUS. Enjoy!
NOTE: You may have to keep clicking off the black Geocities advertisement.
It won't hurt the census site though; it is directly under the ad.
Sincerely,
Gerie
I would love to find anyone who had ANY information on my Calverts.
Margaret, Frank and Alonzo Calvert were brothers and sister. I don't
know if there were more siblings or not.
Margaret was born in either Ohio or Iowa in April of 1863. She married
William H. Davison. She died March 1928 in Beatrice, Gage County,
Nebraska.
Alonzo was born in June of 1873, but I don't know where or who he
married, or if he married. He died in Beatrice, Nebraska, but I am not
certain of the date.
Frank was born in Fremont County, Iowa in 1869 and I am not sure where
he died or when. He married a woman with the first name of Marie. I
know nothing else about her, or if they had children.
Margaret, Frank and Alonzo's parents were:
William Calvert and Barbara ??
William was born about 1830 in Ohio (we think), and Barbara was born in
1837 in Indiana.
I know nothing else about these Calverts and would love any information
about possible or actual connections.
Thank you so much if you have any information.

Hello,
My gr. grandmother was Isabella Calvert b. Grewelthorpe, Yks., England
c. 1830's. She married James Metcalfe, Police Sergeant of Middlesbrough,
Yks., England c. 1877/78. They had one child, Mary Jane Metcalfe b. Dec. 21,
1878 Middlesbrough, Yks. Isabella died Dec. 25, 1899 Middlesbrough.
What I am interested in is finding out who Isabella Calvert's parents were
. Hoped to find marriage record of James and Isabella to see if parents
names were on there, but can't seem to find one.
Would anyone have an Isabella Calvert in their Calvert genealogy?
Many thanks.

George,
Are the scanned pages from O'Gormans book, if so I have that, also have The
Calvert Family by John Bailey Calvert Nicklen and a copy of a
maybe lesser work The Genealogy of the Calvert Family, Cortland, New
York,Branch by Dr. John B.Calvert,1914- C.Crossman Calvert,1960
Juanita and I and several others have been for a year or more exchanging
information and trying to help each other, and I have found several others
researching this line through the Calvert-L, my line in O'Gorman's Book has
some few mistakes on names, and I have been trying to find others of the
Caldwell Co. Calvert line to exchange information with.
Is this the wrong forum for that?
Peggy Gilkey
Here is my response to roll call. I am descended from
1 Dorothy Ellen Calvert Missouri
2 Marshall Stephen Calvert Arkansas
3 James Harrison Calvert Iowa
4 James M. Calvert Illinois
5 George A. Calvert Tennessee
6 Alexander Calvert Virginia
7 Cynthia Calvert Virginia
8 George Calvert Virginia
9 George Calvert Virginia
10 George Calvert Maryland
11 William Calvert England - Son of Leonard the
Governor.
My research gets very confusing with Cynthia Calvert, daughter of
George. George is also unclear and I show that Cynthia married a cousin
whose name was also Calvert, however do not know who he was. Can anyone
help?

Can anyone tell me if the O'Gorman book lists it's sources? If someone has
the book I would appreciate a lookup for the source for the death date for
John CALVERT b. 1772 in PWC d. Bef. October 14, 1812 in PWC. I am assuming
the source of the date is a will? I am hoping to locate a copy of the will.
Joan Handtke
This may apply and it may not. There was a Thomas Calvert who settled in
Centre County, PA circa 1820. He was said to have been born in Nottingham.
He could be a brother or cousin to your William. I cannot find my
records, but as I remember he was listed in the 1820 census for the county.

There are lots of CALVERTS around the Strabane area of Northern Ireland
(camus Parish) where my own Great Grandfather Hugh CALVERT was born. His
father Hiram CALVERT is known to have been in Strabane in 1858, but is
thought to have been buried in Pensylvania. There are other clusters of
CALVERTS in Armagh, but I have heard that all Irish CALVERTS are related. If
you find a positive Irish link, you might try the Strabane area.
Regards, Jim
I'm looking for information on William CALVERT. He was born about 1775 in
Virginia (possibly Ireland?)
According to John Henry Brown, Indian Wars and Pioneers of Texas (Austin,
Tex.: L. E. Daniel, 1880; repr., Easley, S.C.: Southern Historical Press,
1978), 638-639, William's father--said by some to be Thomas
CALVERT--immigrated to Winchester (now Frederick County), Virginia, from
Ireland, and later moved to Tennessee. William's mother's family was said
to be English. He and his family were Scotch-Irish Cumberland Presbyterians.
William CALVERT had a sister Jane CALVERT, born ca 1784 (Ireland or
Virginia), who married James Jones HILL in 1809 in Maury County, Tennessee;
Jane and James HILL were in Bedford County, Tennessee; came to
Tuscaloosa/Bibb County, Alabama ca 1817. Jane (CALVERT) HILL died in Bibb
County, Tennessee, in 1850
William CALVERT married Lucy ROGERS, ca 1800, in Tennessee, but I don't
know where. Various sources hint that William CALVERT was possibly in
Hawkins County or Sevier County, Tennessee, then possibly Bedford County,
Tennessee, before moving to Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.
William and Lucy's Children:
1. Robert CALVERT, who was born in 9 February 1802, near Wartrace,
Tennessee (Bedford County?--or Hawkins County or Sevier County,
Tennessee?); he married Mary "Polly" KEESEE in 1823 in Tuscaloosa County,
Alabama; moved to Saline County, Arkansas ca 1836; to Robertson County,
Texas, ca 1852; and died in Robertson County, Texas, of yellow fever, in 1867.
2. Jane "Gencey" Calvert, b. 18 March 1804, in Tennessee; m. George HILL in
1822; she died 11 March 1855, in Talledaga County, Alabama. George HILL
served during the War of 1812 in the same unit with Edward CALVERT, Young
CALVIT, Mathew HUBBERT, and Benjamin HUBBERT.
3. Mary "Polly" CALVERT, b. 26 June 1806, Tennessee; m. Milton KEESEE, 1823
in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama; moved to Saline County, Arkansas, ca 1836;
to Union County, Arkansas, ca. 1842; to Robertson County, Texas, ca 1852;
she d. in Robertson County, Texas in 1873.
4. James CALVERT: b. 11 December 1808, Tennessee; moved to Bibb County,
Alabama, when he was young, ca 1813; m. Margaret IVY in 1829, in Tuscaloosa
County, Alabama; moved to Talledega County, Alabama, ca 1828; moved to Clay
County, Mississippi, ca 1836; he died in Noxubee County, Mississippi in 1878.
5. William CALVERT: b. ca 1810-1823, based on census; nothing more known,
but there was a William CALVERT in Walker County, Alabama in 1830. He was a
minor heir of William CALVERT, and the final settlement of his guardianship
account was in 1830--could that mean he turned 21? or 18? His brother
Robert CALVERT was his guardian.
6. Nancy CALVERT: b. 22 January 1811, Tennessee; m. Robert HILL (her first
cousin) 1827, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama; she died in Bibb County, Alabama,
in 1888, buried Hill Cemetery, near Vance.
7. Paulina CALVERT: b. 28 November 1816, HILL's Settlement, Bibb County,
Alabama.; m. Samuel Washington QUARLES in 1834, in Tuscaloosa County,
Alabama; she died 1891, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. Her brother-in-law
Milton KEESEE was her guardian after the death of her father in 1823, when
she was a minor.
William CALVERT died 23 August 1823 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama--there
are some probate files concerning his minor heirs. His widow, Lucy (ROGERS)
CALVERT remarried in 1825, in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, to James MOORE.
Where was William CALVERT in Tennessee before he came to Alabama ca 1813?
Where did he and Lucy marry? Was his father Robert and, if so, which one?
Also--there was an Edward CALVERT, supposedly born in Ireland, according to
a biography of his grandson, but 1850 census says he was born in Tennessee;
born ca 1788; and came to American when he was 12 years old (according to
biography of grandson); he married (1) NANCY CANTERBERRY. Edward CALVERT
was also in Saline County (now Grant), Arkansas when the above CALVERTs
were there, moved with them to Robertson County, Texas, where he died in
1867. Edward CALVERT was known to be related to the above CALVERTs. HOW
were they related?
Naturally, like every other Calvert in American, all lines claim to be
descended from Lord Baltimore. I'll be happy if that proves to be true
someday, but right now I'm lost in Tennessee.
Any information appreciated. Carolyn
My gg-grandfather was Joseph Calvert b. 1824 Walker Co. AL, d. 1869 Angelina
Co. TX. where he and his wife Mary Crawford Cheatham are buried at Gann
Cemetery.
Joseph is descended from the Irish Calverts who came to America about the
time of the Revolutionary War. Joseph served in Civil War with 29th Regiment
AL Infantry Co. B of Blount Co. AL.
Joseph was the son of War of 1812 veteran William Calvert Jr. b. 1792 TN d.
1859 Cullman AL. buried at Houston Calvary Cemetery at Bushy Pond MT Cullman
AL. His wife Sarah Wright was b. ca 1794 TN, d ca 1838.
William Jr. was son of William Calvert Sr. b. ca 1750 Ireland, came to
America ca 1770-75.
I don't have name of William Sr.'s wife. Anybody know?
