=====================
My mother was a Bowie & my line advances up thru the Bowie's to the Prathers
to Charlemagne. But, I have not found a link to my Ann Calvert (3rd g-gma)
who's father was George B. Calvert. What I have on Ann is that she died
either in 1845, or 1856, as there are 2 references I have found that differ.
Her father, George built the first Washington, D.C. hotel, as I think I have
found that he died in 1838 at the age of 70 in Bladensburg, MD, where Ann
was born.
Ann Calvert m. Dr. John Bowie b. 9-11-1769 in Montgomer Co., MD and d.
2-17-1825. Ann moved from MD to Chambersburg, PA to educate her children &
then to WV later settling in Uniontown, Fayette Co., PA, where all her
children became "usefull citizens" as one book quoted. Many Census records
show all of these Bowie's and though I seem to find Ann on the 1850 Census,
as it only lists the ages of the children at that time, I cannot be sure this
is her.

Hello all,
This is just a request from your listowner as I prepare to finish up
the Calvert Surname List WWW page to be published this week. I am
looking for a copy of the "Calvert Family Crest" (or as many as I can
find!) to put on the page, as well as links to your Calvert family
pages. The page will have instructions on how to subscribe and
unsubscribe, how to get archived messages, and other relevant
information for everyone who is interested. I will post the URL later
this week when the page is finished. Meanwhile, if you would like a
link to your Calvert research or homepage, please email me the URL
and the title for the page. Also, if you have a copy of a Calvert
crest, or know where I can find one, please let me know. Thanks!

Hi All, (but esp. Barbara!) Below is a portion of a note from a
Calvert/Scoles cousin. She gives the line below as that of John Calvert who
went to OH. Can anyone fill in the weak links, verify or dispute this line?
Thanks a bunch, Cindy Torres Owens
LEONARD CALVERT, son of JOHN & MARGERIE was born in 1550 in England, most
likely Yorkshire County. His date of death is unknown. He married before
or about 1578 to GRACE ALICE ("ALICIA") CROSSLAND. They were the parents of
two documented
children named GEORGE & MARY.
GEORGE CALVERT, LORD BALTIMORE I, was born in 1579-1580 Yorkshire Co.,
England and he died 4-15-1632 in London, England. He was married twice.
His first marriage took place on November 22, 1604 to ANNE MYNNE who was
born November 20,1579 and died August 8th, 1621/22. ANNE MYNNE was the
daughter of GEORGE MYNNE and ELIZABETH WROTH. Through her mother ELIZABETH
WROTH MYNNE she was the granddaughter of SIR THOMAS WROTH, Knight of Enheld
and Durance, Middlesex and his wife, MARY RICH. MARY RICH was the fifteenth
child of BARON RICHARD RICH, Lord Chancellor of England and his wife
ELIZABETH
GYNKES. After the death of ANNE MYNNE CALVERT, her widowed husband, GEORGE
CALVERT erected a statue in her memory at the parish church of
Hertinsfordbury, Hertfordshire, England. ANNE never came to the New
World. GEORGE & ANNE were the parents of
eleven children. GEORGE CALVERT, LORD BALTIMORE I, married a second time
to JOAN, her maiden name is not known, but it is quite possible that she was
of Irish Peerage. JOAN drowned in 1630 in a shipwreck on St. Cloud. She
and GEORGE were the
parents of two children.
LEONARD CALVERT II, Governor of Maryland and son of GEORGE CALVERT & ANNE
MYNNE was born on November 21, 1610 and died June 6, 1647, in St. Marys',
Maryland. He married in June of 1642/43 in London to ANNE BRENT. LEONARD
arrived in Maryland on March 25, 1634 on the two ships ARK & DOVE. ANNE
BRENT, was the sister of GILES, MARY, FULKES & MISTRESS MARGARET BRENT.
WILLIAM CALVERT, son of LEONARD CALVERT & ANNE BRENT was born in 1642/43 and
he resided at "Calverts Rest". He drowned in the Wicomico River in May of
1682. He married ELIZABETH STONE, daughter of Governor WILLIAM STONE of
Maryland on September 9, 1663.
ELIZABETH was born 1645 in Maryland and she died after 1745 (?)
GEORGE CALVERT III, son of WILLIAM CALVERT & ELIZABETH STONE, was born
1668-1672 and he
married #1 to ELIZABETH DOYNE in 1690; married #2 in 1695 to ANNE NOTTLEY;
married #3 HANNAH NEALE.
GEORGE CALVERT IV, son of GEORGE CALVERT & ANNE NOTTLEY, was born in
Stafford Co.,
Va in 1694. He was baptized in Quantico, Virginia Catholic Church. He died
in 1772 in Prince William Co., Virginia. He was married twice. His
first wife was
CONSTANT/CONSTANCE__________ who was the mother of his four oldest children
and then he married #2 to MRS. ESTHER STONE, daughter of RICHARD KIRKLAND
who died in 1742 in Fairfax, Virginia. She was the widow of FRANCIS STONE.
ESTHER & GEORGE
CALVERT IV had one child:
WILLIAM CALVERT born circa 1726 and he died August 16, 1811. In 1748 he married
in Prince William Co.,Va to HANNAH________________.
JOHN CALVERT born before 1747 ?, he married and had issue:
JOHN CALVERT born February 22,1766 in Baltimore or Prince William Co., VA
and he died February 26, 1847 in Belmont Co., Ohio. He is buried in
Centerville, Smith Twp., Belmont Co., OH. He married ESTHER JONES who was a
Presbyterian. She was born on May 8, 1768 and she died at the age of 82 on
November 31, 1849 in Belmont Co., Ohio. She
is buried next to her husband, JOHN CALVERT. ESTHER was supposedly the
daughter of SIR WILLIAM JONES., but no proof of this has been found. JOHN
CALVERT & family moved to Bald
Eagle Valley, Pennsylvania and while living there he was converted from
Catholicism to Methodism. After residing in Pennsylvania, they moved to
Belmont Co., Ohio & then to Virginia for a short time and then back to
Belmont Co., Ohio (in the census for 1820 & 30) where JOHN died at the age
of 81 years. They were the parents of eleven children.
BARBARA...
Sorry...But I am terribly confused over these #1, #2, etc. .. as you say, "
It is thott that the maiden name of #1 was Thurman." but, the # 1 below is
Jane Russell ? Could u possibly fill in the names of ALL those that u have
numbered ? And, the Geo. B. ca 17"S"8 date ? Is that maybe 1858 ? I am
curious of George B. as I have a George B. Calvert as the father of Ann
Calvert b. in Bladensburg, MD d. in either 1845, or 1856 (2 different
references), and would LOVE to find my George B. Calvert who was supposed to
have built the 1st Washington, D.C. hotel.
I think we may have em'd eachother before, but I think u may have some new
info here.
Please let me know..

Christi,
I am hoping that you can verify some information that I have obtained.
Do you have information on Charles Calvert that married Mary Howson?
Their daughter, Ann Calvert married Thomas Porter. Their son is
Nicholas Porter.
Nicholas married a Sarah Hansford.
I need to know if Nicholas and Sarah Hansford had a daughter:
Sarah Porter (14 Feb 1786 - 21 Mar 1843) that married John Flynt.

I don't understand the question about Francis and John and Jacob Calvert.
As far as I can tell, O'Gorman is not wrong. This is my husband Bill
Calvert's ancestery. Not only has O'Gorman covered it, but also the Rev.
Austin Cooper of the COB (Church of the Brethren). He is a historian for
that group (known in the old days as the DUNKARDS and, I think, German
Baptists). Also Nicklin has Francis, John, and Jacob in his index.
As I understand it, Geo. Calvert & Eliz. Doyne s/o Wm. & Eliz. Stone, had
John III who m. Eliz. Harrison. (His sib was Geo. who m. Constance
Cornwall and #2 Hester Stone). John III had a good friend, Jacob, after
whom he named a son, Jacob, who m. Sarah Crupper. Jacob, according to
Nicklin, was b. ca 1724. Jacob and bro. Geo. had something to do with the
estate of Richard Crupper. Johm Calvert and Jacob Gibson, after whom
Jacob was named, had real estate deals. Wm. & Eliz. had Geo. m. Eliz.
Doyne. John and Geo. were the sons. O'Gorman had John's wife wrong as he
m. Eliz. Harrison NOT Mary Gosling. And Nicklin has John and Geo. who m.
twice as sibs. John and Eliz. had 2 sons: Geo. who m. Ann Crupper and
Jacob who m. Sarah Crupper. Jacob and Sarah had Francis who m. #1 Eliz.
Witt & #2 Eliz. Rose. Francis had bros. Jacob and Richard. Richard went
to OH. Nicklin has Richard as son of Jacob & Sarah.
Robert Calvert s/o Francis of Bedford Co. (from HISTORY OF THE CHURCH OF
THE BRETHREN) b. 1794. He m. Sallie Stetch who was a member of COB. They
left Bedford Co. and went 160 miles into WV. Then took a flat boat to
Manchester OH. and then to Adams Co. OH. One of their sons was Mills
Calvert, Bill's g. grandfather, who m. Susanna Garman. He also became a
COB minister, altho' Robert was a Methodist at first. Mills and Susanna
had Wm. Quinter Calvert (the name Quinter being the name of one of the
prominent COB ministers). Wm. m. Susan Couser of Irish ancestry in OH.
They had about 12 children. The next youngest was Geo. Calvert, Bill's
father. The family moved from OH. to CA. That's where Bill was born, and
we left there in 1964 and in 1968 came to N J (Wm. Q. also COB minister).
If there are any further questions on this branch of the family, let me
know.

Marcus, I'm glad you re-posted your query. I accidently deleted the digest
w/ it & meant to reply. I can't help you w/ Elizabeth but I do have some of
her descendants. My connection is through the WISE family. "My" Calvert
line is through John Calvert who died 1847 in Belmont Co., OH. It would
make my family tree very interesting if I could connect this Elizabeth to my
John. John was b. 1766 in MD or VA, his wife was Esther Jones. George do
you know if he was indeed a desc. of the Stafford Co., VA Calverts??
I just happen to live in Stafford Co, not far from the "Crucifix", the site
of the 1st Catholic Church in the area. I believe many of the early
Calverts were baptised there, correct? Thanks to all for any help. Cindy
