James is the one that changed the spelling to
Sturgill. 1765 they moved
to Grayson county Va and 1782 received the current
Alleghany Co, NC
land grant (was Montgomery Co, Va.) They had 8 kids:
Francis, Ambrose,
Mary, Ruth, james, John, Docia, lewis.
