Hi, some of you may be familiar with me. I have been working on the Callison
family along with some others for quite a while. I am interested in the
preceding information. I have been unable to verify that Nancy Callison was
the daughter of John Callison and Elizabeth Cutlip. At the same time that
this marriage took place in Gallia co, there was also a William Callison who
is presumed to have had a son, James, married the same year in Gallia co.
Elizabeth Cutlip had a child before her marriage to John Callison but the sex
of the child is unknown. Also according to census records, Nancy was not born
at the time of the court case involving her illigitimate child. Would this
child not be known by Cutlip. I have not found any records in Pike for John
Collison but have not done alot of work in that county. I'ld love to share
any info about this. I have a real puzzle with one the children of Shadrack
and Nancy Callison. They had a son, John who married Anne Elliott in Clark
co, Ohio. Anne Elliott is probably the granddaughter of John Callison and
Jane McClure, descendants of James and Isabelle Callison. She and her family
were in Jackson county in the 1820 census and clark Co in the 1830 census. So
how did John Newnham of Pike county meet Anne Elliott of another county.
There are a few unknown Callisons in Virginia and Ohio who COULD possibly
descend from John Callison and Elizabeth Cutlip.
1. Isaac Collison married Cynthia Robinson shows up for the first time
unmarried in the 1810 census Bath co. Va
2. William Jackson Callison "returned to the homeplace" in Augusta co, Va
from Bath co, area
3. Samuel Collison married Elizabeth Downing in Pike co, Ohio and probably is
the same one who went to Kosciusko co, Indiana
4. Margaret Collison married Joseph Downing in Pike co, Ohio
Can't think of anymore at this time but I keep these in the back of my mind.
So any help on this subject is certainly appreciated and I'll be glad to help
wherever I can.
