Just thought I would work on Isabella a little bit since we know so very little about her.
She is the daughter of John Sr. and the only grandchild named in the will of James
Callison in 1789. She married Joseph Evans, a widower, in 1801 Augusta Co. VA. Her uncles
James Jr. and Robert were given the task of providing for her wedding in the will of
James. I'll have to check but I think that Robert was the only one who was a bondsman.
I guess James was in TN at the time. Will check on this. I can find a Joseph Evans in the
1810 census Augusta Co., VA with he and wife both older than age 45. 1820 Augusta has
Joseph again with himself and female over age 45. There is one male age 0-10. This should
be Callison Evans. It is interesting that there are also some girls which I never thought
about. Really have not researched Isabella before. Just got the Callison Evans info from
earlier researchers. If this is the case -- it MIGHT be possible to compare DNA from one
of these girls and !
DNA from some of our unknown females - Boiler, Newingham esp. to see if they had the same
mother (wife of John Sr.) It would take lots of research because it has to be a direct
female line and their name changes every generation. UGH. Anyway -- 1840 was Joseph and
wife age 60-70 and in 1850 I found a 74 year old Isabella Evans living in the household of
a Johnston family. No Joseph in 1850 and no Isabella in 1860. Most of the online files for
this couple along with Callison Evans are a total mess. At this point, I can't say
that this Joseph Evans is the one who married Isabella or that Callison Evans is their son
OTHER than he was the right age and in the right county. I don't guess that anyone has
info on Isabella. I would suspect that she was born in the pre 1775 time period since that
is when John and William left Augusta Co. Any ideas? Take care. Marilyn
