I do not know of a male Callison as I descend from Louisa Isabell, but we have had several
DNA lines tested in our family. You are not correct completely in what you are saying. The
male DNA, which is the Y chromosome, is passed on unchanged from father to son. As I am
sure you know, we females have two X chromosomes, and the males have a X and a Y. The x
chromosomes mingle but there is no Y to mingle with mother's lines, so it is passed on
through the male virtually unchanged.
The female line has nothing to do with the male DNA for genealogical purposes. The sons of
Samuel by Ida Orlena will have the same DNA as the sons of the second wife because it is
only the sons who have the chromosome. It will go back to Adam, I guess, virtually
unchanged. That is how you can tell what line they are from. We had my son's Moore
line tested. He goes back to Danish Vikings, or at least to Vikings or Angels, because he
has what is known as the Viking gene from Denmark, which I suspect the Callisons also
have. We have only found two other Moores out of all of the ones tested, and a lot have
been tested, who match. The others are almost all Celts.
I had my female mitochondria DNA tested because I wanted to see if I could find who Ida
Orlena Box's mother was. I have about 40 people who match me perfectly, and about 400
who come close. Unfortunately, we are all trying to find a common ancestor because it
always goes back through the female line, from me to my mother, to her mother, to her
mother, etc and the name changes each generation. It does not tell me who Ida's mother
was. However, Cameron's daughter, who descends from Stephen Wiley , who is also my
ancestor as well as Samuel Callison, we are double cousins, only had one match and that
match was with a ggranddaugher of Stephen Wiley's brother, who I think was married to
a sister of Stephen Wiley's wife, Rebecca Tyler, and that proved it. They were perfect
matches and had to go back to the same female line. Although I carry that same female line
in my genes, my mitochondrial DNA goes back to my mother's female line, etc.
If someone can find a male descended from Samuel I would help pay for it, but I do not
have any males that I know of. Maybe Mary will know a male that descends from Samuel as
she is descended from Uncle Finn and maybe has uncles or cousins.

Just testing the waters on this subject. Is there any interest in DNA testing
to prove, disprove relationships. Other lines that I work on are getting very
involved in this new science for genealogy.
The goal is to get a direct male line DNA from two people who are trying to
prove a relationship OR a direct female line.
I might can talk one of the males from my line into seeing if his DNA matches
with any other line but the way I understand it, all the male lines from
James and Isabella, would all have the same "y" chromosone so that would tell
only
that our unknowns descend from James and Isabella and they would also match
with the earlier DNA from a male line from Anthony if James and Anthony were
descended from the same male line. It matches up with the earliest common
ancestor.
DNA would be able to tell us IF Daniel KELLISON descends from the same line
asJames.CALLISON and If Hiram was child of a male or female CALLISON . Same
thing for Isaac who married Cynthia Robinson and William J. Callison who stayed
in Augusta. I think he still has a direct male line living there. Again, won't
put into a family but would prove or disprove at least some relationship.
OK taking the female lines gets a little trickier. If we could find female
lines from Nancy Newenham, Nancy Boiler, Elizabeth Morrison, Elizabeth Cutlip
the maternal DNA could be matched up at least with each other to put into a
better family. May not tell us what family line but IF Elizabeth Morrison line has
the same female line as Nancy Newenham then we would know that those two
descend from the same mother -- probably wife of John or wife of William.
So if Samuel who went to texas (Joyce's line) has a direct male line that
wants to get involved, it would tell if he descends from James and Isabella (with
a match from a known male descendant). Because the children of a couple (Only
the children, no other generations) have both mother and fathers DNA, then If
Samuel had a direct female line and that matches with another direct female
line ( like a child of William and MaryAnn Chapman Callison), then that would
prove or disprove that he was one of the missing children of William and
MaryANn. Does everyone get the idea
I am trying to figure out about Tay -- if she can cash in on this in anyway.
I SUSPECT that her Margaret Rebecca is a child of Elisha soooooo IF Tay (who I
think is direct female line) has a maternal match with any direct female line
from Elisha that would mean that they both had the same mother.
The most expensive test shows mutations with a 5 generation time frame. The
lesser ones show less sensitivity (this is male only) so the site I referenced
said start with a cheaper test to make sure you are on the right tract and
then they credit you that cost for a more expensive one.
Our problem is that we have so few females to work on. I am female and
descend from John Sr so cannot use the male line and am not a direct female line
either of I am out of luck. We know that John Sr. had a daughter who could have
provided a female line but she only had a son so those known relationship are
out of the picture. However, there are some in my line who are direct lines
I think our best bet if we ever get to that point is get the girls into
family groups and maybe some male lines to see how they match up and when they
diverge a little from each other.
If anyone is interested, we can research it a little more. I'ld be willing to
help with the cost since I can't contribute my DNA and maybe others would
want to do so also. Send your problems and let's see if this new research tool
might be workable in your case. Take care all
