Hi i find this discussion rather intresting as i am a COLLISON myself. I have traced my
COLLISON surname back to COUNTY ARMAGH NORTHERN IRELAND. This is where i find the first
variation in my surname from COLLISON to CALLISON this is around 1830. My line of
COLLISON/CALLISON has been traced back to HOLLAND. Though i hasten to add not by myself,
yet. What i have learned from a distant relative who has been researching COLLISON for
many years has the name arriving on the shores of ENGLAND from HOLLAND with the army of
WILLIAM PRINCE OF ORANGE in 1688. WILLIAM defeated KING JAMES at THE BATTLE OF THE BOYNE,
IRELAND on 12TH JULY 1690 to become KING OF ENGLAND. It was from this victory that
williams followers settled and spread over the BRITISH ISLES namely COLLISON/CALLISON
which we are all searching for
Neil Collison
P.S I am still living in LANARKSHIRE SCOTLAND where my branch of CALLISON'S came to
from IRELAND around 1840
