Could James M. Callison, b. 1843, have been a cousin of Clara Collison
rather than Mortimore Bragg? Clara, or Clory, was born around 1879 and was a
daughter of John (b. 1827, son of Isaac Callison, and Melissa Callison, b. 1843.
Yes, that should be the relationship. Not sure who James M. was the son of.
The oldest son of Isaac was born in the 1820s so he was the only one old
enough to have a son born 1843 who would be a cousin to Clara. Need to check the 1
850 census -- Nope, no children born to that child by 1850. So who is this
James? Could he be a clue for Isaac -- maybe a child of a brother of Isaac.
Definitely not a first cousin of Clara's. Anyone have a James M. Callison born
1843 in their database. In 1850 census Coshocken Co., Ohio there is a James
M. Callison of the right age, son of James and Matilda -- this family may be
COLLISON. The father was born 1814 in Maryland so seems like a stretch.
There are two James in Pocahontas Co. of the right age group with different
middle initials. One is son of Josiah and Nancy and one is son of Israel and
Mary. Both of these families descend from the thrice married James.
Interesting, Isaac Callison/Collison used many of the names of this family: Elisha F,
Samuel, John, Rebecca. But both of these James seem to accounted for -- I need
some help from the family of the thrice married James to confirm these. I
know that Israel went to Illinois but guess that one of his children could have
come back.
My only thoughts at this time is that possibly Isaac was the son of the
unknown Jonathan who died before the will of James. He named his first son John
for whatever that is worth. Without DNA testing though we don't know if he fits
in the family or not but this 1900 census with an unknown James listed with
his cousin (from the line of Isaac) is certainly interesting. Any thoughts???
Take care. Marilyn
