Joyce, what wonderful news. Now hopefully, he will put you down for a contact person so
that you can stay updated on the sample as it goes through the system. I have been out of
contact for a couple of weeks -- went on vacation to Florida and then when I got home, I
had surgery scheduled on my eyelids -- eye MD recommended this as my field of vision was
decreased. Now 6 days postop and still do not look normal but getting there <smile>
I loved how much I could see immediately after surgery -- for about 2 hours-- until the
swelling started so I am anticipating great things. Take care. Marilyn
This is kind of off the subject but I finally heard from Laramie Callison and he
aid he had received the DNA test kit and was going to submit it. I was
eginning to wonder if he had died! Hopefully we can get a family for the line
f Samuel C. Callison of Texas. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Good morning Reba, I am not as up to date on this line of Callisons as some
thers but am sending your note to the Callison mail list to see if someone can
elp. To the best of my knowledge -- James Callison married to Mary Callison--
as not involved in the Rev. War-- because he was Quaker. However, he may have
ontributed provisions and would be considered a patriot and eligible for DAR. I
on't know if anyone has claimed linage to him for DAR. We do have DAR
ocumentation for another James Callison (the father of Mary who married your
ames). DNA proves that the two James are closely related but not the
elationship, I suspect Uncle and Nephew. Your James Callison left a will in
rainger Co. TN in 1808 naming his children. I don't know that there is any
ocumentation confirming Jesse as the father of James and I have no knowledge of
avid Young's will. You may want to investigate the lineage from Mary
allison (wife of your James) and PRESUMED daughter of the James who has a DAR
umber. That James named a daughter, Mary, in his will and the tombstone of
lisha Callison (another son of your James) in the cemetery in Greenbrier Co.,
now WV) has son of James and Mary Callison Callison. That is the only proof for
his relationship <sigh>
Callison group can anyone help Reba-- please keep me posted. Take care. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn,
0A
o you know where I can find out more information about Jesse Callison. I am
rying to verify lineage for a potential Daughters of the American Revolution
pplicant and need documentation to connect the lineage between James Callison
. 8 Jan 1810 (married to Louisiana Johnson), Jesse Callison b. 1777 (married to
ary Young) and James Callison b. abt 1739 ( married to Mary Elizabeth
allison).
I believe Mary Youngʼs father, his name is possibly David Young, left a will
hat mentions Mary and her husband, Jesse Callison. Do you know if an original
opy exists or only a transcript. Because the DAR will only accept an original
opy I would prefer to have that but might be able to use a transcribed copy if
t has been verified as an exact copy of the original. Do you know where I
ould find these documents?
Also, are there any books, records or anything to prove that Jesse was the son
f James and Mary Elizabeth Callison and the father of James Callison (married
o Louisiana Johnson)? I have a 1850 census that shows Jesse Callison living
ith James and Louisiana Callison, however, this census does not show the
elationship between the two men. I have looked everywhere I can think of for
ocumentation to prove these relationships and have been unable to find the
roof I need for her application.
I belong to a small chapter of the DAR in Queen Creek, AZ and I am not a paid
e
searcher. I help woman with their research so that they ca
prove their lineage to a patriot in the Revolutionary War.
Thanks for any help you can give to us.
Reba
