I just got an email from my cousin Ruth who is NOT doing research on the
Callisons. She said she remembers my Grandad Robt. Rufus Callison as telling
her when she was younger that the Callison family went from Sweden to
Ireland and then to the states. She said the name was written with a "K"
in Sweden back then. Take this for what it is worth.

Thank you for clearing that up. Up until the time I started researching
the
family 20 years ago, I was always told that Hirum was the first Callison
we
had any knowledge of and that he had fought in Revolutionary war and was
with
Washington at Valley Forge.
Talk about family fables.
That one died hard. Some of my great aunts did not want to hear
that it was all fiction. A writer was going to put a chapter in her
latest
book about the Callisons of Fall River Ca and I had to ask the Callisons
up
there to stop her from putting that fable in her book. Makes good reading
but---well you know. I have not seen the book as yet so I hope she got
her facts
straight.

Yes, didn't that story have about 3 brothers on a raft or something from
Sweden and one ended up in Zanesville, OH. That story did die a
SLOOOOOOOOW
death -- and none too soon. I still think it is alive and well somewhere
though.

Marilyn,
This is my line. The only thing I have on Lorahama is that she was born
about 1807, possibly Pennsylvania. Not much to go on. She died June 19,
1879 in LaPorte Co., Indiana.
