Good morning group, I have been waylaid from my John and Jane project for a
month or so while trying to create a common ancestor tree with a gentleman who
matched DNA with my brother. My surname is THOMAS. Thankfully, our common
ancestor, married and came to this country in 1717 where he only had two sons
before he died. So our common ancestor could only be from one of the two sons. I
have one son pretty well covered but not much done on the other. Anyway, we got
that relationship figured out and now waiting on DNA from another young man
who is thought to descend from the "other" son to see how we are doing. All
that is to say, that I have joined the genealogy DNA mail list and learning LOTS.
Of course, anything tha I learn is more than I knew before. So on the mail
list, it looks like a possibility to determine a northern Irish ancient heritage
versus a scandinavian heritage. The keyword is ancient but if anyone is
interested I"ll ask that question of the experts. Also it is looking possible that
the DNA from my Thomas line is slightly different from that of the brother so
I would be curious to see if we could tell any differences between a line from
William versus a line from John and also how a line from James who married
Mary Callison would compute. I have a volunteer for a line from John-- is anyone
else curious enough to jump into the mix. Also need a volunteer to maintain a
Callison surname project on
familytreedna.com and need any females who might
be interested in donating $$$ to the cause for the guys to be tested since the
guys are the only ones who can be tested for this particular project. FIRST
though, to get a reduced rate and to match results, there needs to be a project
manager. So I"ll ask my questions to the experts about Irish versus
Scandianavian and let you know. Take care. Maybe there is a Kellison group we can join
or that they can join. Anyone on a Kellison mail list. Take care. Marilyn
