Just trying to get records together for ANY county in TN for the early
Callisons. As far as I can tell -- these were the first Callisons to leave
Virginia. Knox Co was formed in 1792 from Greene and Hawkins Co. TN and Grainger
was formed in 1796 from Hawkins and Knox so these people were all in the general
vicinity of each other. After James married in Knox Co. Tn, he returned to
Augusta Co until 1802 when he disappears from the tax list. Delinquent tax
list says that he went to KY but I have not found him in that state. I am only
documenting the Callisons listed in Knox, Rowan, Rhea, Grainger Co.
1787 before TN became a state, I found a copy online from NC State records
listing a Robert Callison for this date. It was known as the state of FRANKLIN
and covers those Eastern Counties by Virginia and NC. I have no idea who
this Robert would be.
