I have been reading other surname DNA testing results and getting some
additional information. It looks like IF we test a direct male line to a living male
for
John/William/James JR/Robert -- they will all test the same for Y chromosome
If a direct male line for
Alexander, Hiram, Daniel, Absolom, William Jackson, Isaac who married
Robinson, William who married Chapman, Samuel in Kosciusko Co. and any other males
that we cannot connect-- a perfect match will occur for any of them who descend
from James -- it will not show which of James sons, the male descends from
cause they will all have the same Y chromosone
So that would be a major step in proving or disproving these relationships to
James and Isabella. It would also show if Hiram descends from a male or
female Callison since he would have no match with James if his father was a Baldwin
and not his mother.
When tested with any male line from the other James Callison, it would show
if they had a common male ancestor -- father, grandfather etc. which is what we
would expect but not where the connection occurred.
The female DNA is not as specific but any FEMALE line from Mary Callison
Callison could be compared with any female line of Isabella and this should be the
proof needed that she actually was the daughter of Isabella-- whoever Is
abella was
There is NO WAY to test for the early Isaac Callison because he had only a
female child and it needs to be a male line and no way to compare Margaret
Callison McCutcheon with James Callison because they are different sexes.
I was all set to have Tay find a female line from her Margaret Rebecca
Callison and I was going to try to find a female line from Elisha to see if they had
the same mother but ALAS, Margaret Rebecca had only one child, a boy.
Also tried to figure out if there was any way to prove Elizabeth Callison
Morrison was the sister of my John Callison but again the male /female problem.
It would have worked with Elizabeth IF John's sister, Isabella had a daughter
but she only had one son, as far as we know. The only thing we could prove with
Elizabeth is if any of the female problem children, Nancy Boiler, Nancy
Newenham, Susannah Flack etc. had the same mother as Elizabeth.
These are just some of the scenarios that are possible with the new era of
DNA testing.
If anyone is interested or wants to persue it further, we'll put our heads
together and see what can be done. In the meantime, just in case, see if you can
find any direct male lines from any of the unknowns who MIGHT be interested.
Diannah thinks she might be able to get a male line from Hiram but it would be
useless without a known male line from James to compare it with.
Take care all
