Susannah Callison who married William Flack was born in 1766. If she was
the Susannah who had the child in 1793, then she was already 27. Of course,
she was 32 when she married Flack, and I have often wondered if Callison was
her married name and she was widowed. I have even wondered if she was
Absalom's mother. Our Bible records, as copied by my great uncle show
Absalom born 28 Aug 1777 and his wife, Ann Flack, born 27 Aug 1787. The
dates are so similar that I have wondered if both were born in 1787 and
there was just a mix up by my uncle when he copied them. I have never seen
even a copy of the original records. It is plausible since Absalom's two
known brothers, Robert and Benjamin, were born about 1786 and 1789. Then,
again, who knows; sometimes I think too much.

Rena, in the case of Hiram, it appears that James and Isabel may have cared
for him until their death and then he was in the care of their son, Robert.
In the case of Elizabeth Cutlip, Cutlip researchers think that Nancy
Callison Newenham was her illigitimate child in which case could have been
raised by the Cutlips or Elizabeth and John Callison after they married. I
don't know how they even know if the child was a male or female but that is
the thinking.
Susannah was not a common Callison name -- could have even been that
unknown Isaac who everyone says only had one daughter but I have yet to know
anything about that. The Susannah who married William Flack certainly seems
connected to Absolom. How does the date of this birth compare with Absolom
in the tax record?? Both there at the same time with their father?? I can
imagine Absolom being in a county without a parent but can't see a female
doing that unless the parents were deceased and her brother was caring for
her. Take care all, Marilyn

Marilyn - About Susannah Callison and the "bastard child" is a good
question. Somehow, I don't think the child was reared by her - does anyone
know what the custom was? Who reared said children? All accounts I have
of
her and her husband, William Flack, and their children reflect their oldest
child as John, who was born after their marriage.
