Our Callison DNA results are tentatively scheduled to be finished on May 12.
It may just be 12 markers with the 13 additional ones to follow in a couple of
days. It is not unusual for the first 12 markers to match with people who are
not related in any "genealogical time period". In other words, if there are
matches we can't get too excited until the other ones come back. I don't expect
any matches on the extended markers but at least this will be a start on our
genetic tree. The "y" chromosome that is tested for genealogy has no genetic
usefulness for diseases etc. -- it is strickly the chromosome responsible for a
boy child being born rather than a girl child and the only one passed
unchanged from father to son. A girl baby gets an x from mom and an x from dad. A boy
child gets an x from mom and a y from dad. Take care all. Marilyn
