Marilyn,
I am going to try and get one of the descendants and see if someone will submit a
sample. It would at least show which family line they came from.
We had great luck when we had my son's Moore DNA tested. Turned out they were Danish
Viking while almost all of the other Moores are Celtic. We are still looking for a match
for the Barrett DNA. He is as much a mystery as Sam Callison, actually more of a mystery.
I fund one Lunell Callison living in Tyler so I am going to see about calling this
weekend to see if it is the same Lounell. I do not know how old she was so don't know
if she is still with us.
I am a real believer in DNA after the great luck we had with the Moores. Sure did help
with the research.

Joyce, it has been quite a while (years) since I heard from Lounell so can't
help you out there. It would be interesting to see how a DNA from Samuel
compares with a line from William Callison who married Marian Chapman -- if we ever
got one of those samples. In the Thomas line, even though 3 of us descend
from different children of our common ancestor born 1685, we each have our own
unique mutation down the line soooooooo IF this held true in the Callison family
and IF we had other samples to compare, we MIGHT be able to put people into
family groups. The main thing that a sample from Samuel line would show is if
he comes from the same trunk of the tree as John who married Jane McClure.
There are so many real scientists (MD's, antropologists, geneticists etc.) online
involved in this type of research and all interested in helping those of us
who know nothing. Take care all, Marilyn
