Well, that is the story with genealogy unfortunately. My mom's maiden name
was O'Conor. Her only brother died 2 years ago at the age of 92 BEFORE I knew
about DNA testing. <sad> He was the last male that I knew of since 1870 when
their line branched off from the trunk. So back to the computer to track another
branch of the tree to see if I could find direct males from another line.
Ended up with 2 brothers in Georgia. I was so excited. I had to call the new
cousins and introduce myself. They were underwhelmed to say the least. Said someone
else had traced the family back to Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!! but they knew nothing
about either what the papers said or where the papers were located. I told them
I enjoyed talking with them and hung up. Then I took the chicken way out and
wrote a letter to send an outline tree and to explain my need for DNA -- even
offered to pay for it. IF I ever hear back from either of them, I'll let y'all
know but it would be a BIG surprize. I would be thrilled if they would just
send their family information back for me to update that line. BUT you can lead
a horse to water etc etc etc. Take care all. Marilyn
