I am a Callison, and I am a McAllister. The two names are not from the same lines.
Callison is either or from some Scandanivian Country. Anytime a name ended in son the
meant the person was the son of Callis. Whatever the first name of the son would be would
be the name of the children. Jameson would mean that he was the son of James. McAllister
is a Scottish name. I belong to clan McAllister. It comes from Allister, the youngest son
of Donald of whereever, can't remember, but they are part of Clan Donald. There is no
connection to the two. Anytime you see Mc before a name you know it is Scottish and means
son of, or sometimes the Irish used it, although the O in front of the true Irish name
means son of. Go back and look at an early book on names and it will give you an idea of
where your ancestors originated.
