Was Moses any kin to the Texas Callisons. Forgive me if I kind of get
confused and bogged down by who belongs to whom. I know the Texas Callisons had a
Kentucky and a Tennessee connection, as James was born in Ky and Samuel in
Tenn. However, as I mentioned before, there had to be a Missouri connection
because Alexander Callison, the only son of James, said on the 1880 census that
his father was born in Missouri. I assume that he heard him speak of Missouri,
or had some connection. Alexander's mother died very young and he was raised
by a step mother but the the mother or the step mother were not from
Missouri.
Whew lots of loose ends here.
I know of no relationship between Moses and the Texas Callisons.
We all stay confused so join the club
James in 1860 said that he was born in Kentucky. We just discussed who (that
we know of) was in Kentucky at that time period. William who married Marian
Chapman left Kentucky for Missouri by 1840.
Guess Alexanders' mother was Jane Sargeant who James married in 1841 --
probably met her in Tx.
Just to confuse the issue, Moses also had an Alexander, a grandson -- son of
HIram.
Not too many people -- of our known people- were married pre James
approximate birth
John Callison married Jane McClure 1789 -- known son, James. Never went to Ky
John Callison married Elizabeth Cutlip 1791-- no other info -- my guess to
Ohio by 1806
James Callison, Jr married Ann Gillespie 1794 -- sons Robert and James
(different James)
Joseph married Susannah Dawson 1801 KY.-- Known son James (different James)
William Callison married Marian Chapman 1804, Virginia, then to Ky and
eventually MO. Sons William and Absolom but one more pre 1810 as per census.
Absolom Callison married Ann Flack 1804 --- I guess KY -- that is where they
lived. He died in MO (Note he was a blacksmith as was James mentioned on the
Texas ship record) -- children from Bible record.
Alexander Callison married Rebecka Kellison 1805 Virginia -- then to Ohio
and eventually IL
Take your pick <smile> Take care all. Just jump in with any additions or
corrections etc. Remember I don't have any notes and just flying by the seat of
my pants here. I'm sure I am forgetting people along the way. Marilyn
