The following males were born between the ages of 1769 and ? and of the
right age to serve in the War of 1812 OHIO
We have John Jr (1769) with his sons and sons in law all serving in the same
company in Champaign Co., OH -- Captain Jerimiah Sims company. Served Feb.
20 - March 20 1813
John Callison Sr. (now identified as Sr because he has a son), John
Callison,Jr., Arthur Callison, Thomas Elliott, William Overpeck and William Buckley.
Sons Charles and James were apparently too young -- born closer to 1800
____
Then probably in Gallia Co., OH we have
John and Robert Callison in the same company
These two are thought to be the sons of William (the elder). However, there
is also a Robert in KY and a Robert in TN.
Name: Robert Callison
Company: 2 REGIMENT (SAFFORD'S), OHIO MILITIA.
Rank - Induction: PRIVATE
Rank - Discharge: PRIVATE
Roll Box: 32
Roll Exct: 602
Name: John Callison
Company: 2 REGIMENT (SAFFORD'S), OHIO MILITIA.
Rank - Induction: PRIVATE
Rank - Discharge: PRIVATE
Roll Box: 32
Roll Exct: 602
Also -- the sergeant in this company was James Jardin for whom William
Callison (the elder) was administrator of his will in 1815 Gallia Co., OH. James
wife was named Isabel -- ??? was she a Callison. The Ohio Historical Soc. has
county unknown for this company but I am basing the Gallia Co on the fact that
was where James Jardin's will was administrated. The corporal in this
company was William Peth John /Pettijohn who connects in some manner -- possibly
who Isabel married after James Jardin death, testing my brain cells here. They
served August 9 - October 9, 1812. No other familiar names other than JONES
and CROW who might connect with William's family in the next generation.
Definitely in Gallia Co, we find
ROLL OF CAPT. DANIEL WOMELDORF'S MOUNTED COMPANY. (From
Gallia County.)
Served from August 1, until August 18, 1813.
Collison, William and John Graham
This should be William -- the elder. We know that he was in Gallia Co, OH at
this time and that he was named in a court case involving GRAHAM. This court
case was how we knew that he had gone to Kentucky and connected the dots for
William. I can't find my notes to see which GRAHAM was involved

And in Ross Co Ohio, we find
Name: Moses Collison
Company: 1 ODD BATTALION (DANIELS'), OHIO MILITIA.
Rank - Induction: PRIVATE
Rank - Discharge: PRIVATE
Roll Box: 43
Roll Exct: 602
Ohio Historical lists them as County Unknown but Pike Co was not yet formed
and Moses was married in Ross Co so probably in that area. Also in that
company was Joseph Boiler (married Nancy Callison) and a John Kellison -- not sure
how he connects. The Kellisons in Pike Co., OH descend from Daniel
Callison/Kellison from Bath Co., VA.but the earliest one in Ohio was Samuel. However, I
have to pull out my old War of 1812 records from the National Archives to
see when John Callison died. It is possible that John left Gallia and went to
Ross/Pike Co where the Cutlips were living and rejoined. Now, if I can only
find those records. Probably be easier to reorder from the National Archives
<smile> Any one got that info in their old notes. This company served from
July 28, August 28, 1813 so the dates don't coincide. If my memory serves me
correctly -- John Callison who died did not die until 1813
John KELLISON (also) served in Captain David Lyon's Company Noted as
probably from Ross Co. July 28 - September 4, 1813-- actually I think I remember
that the company stayed the same but the Captain's changed. Most of the same
people above except for Moses.
Also
ROLL OF CAPT. ROBERT McELWAIN'S COMPANY. (Probably from Ross County.)
noted
Served from July 16, until August 15,1813.
Callison, James -- This is probably James Callison who married Isabel Jones
in 1806 Gallia Co., Ohio. No other names mean a thing to me other than
possibly William FLICK
________________
So this exercise shows only one thing -- <smile> Of all the men of military
age in Ohio for the War of 1812 - they all appear to have served OTHER THAN
ALEXANDER. Did I miss anyone from Ohio. John, do you have the info that I
sent years ago on the death of John in the War of 1812?
The only other Callison who was known to be in Ohio previous to this date
was Shadrack Newenham who married Nancy Callison in 1806 Gallia Co., Ohio.
Keep Robert Callison in mind with his date because there was also a Robert
in TN and a Robert in KY that we need to sort out. Take care all, Marilyn
